Popular Golfers Who You Can't Stand

The discussion about Patrick Reed got me thinking: who are some generally popular players who you, personally, just can't stand?  (Guys like Sabbatini and Sergio don't count since they are pretty much universally despised.)

My nomination would be Bubba Watson.  Although his popularity has certainly taken a hit recently, I think he's still one of those guys who fans -- especially casual fans -- like.  But he just strikes me as a petulant little cry baby, and, yeah, I have a problem with a guy who is proud to drive a car with a Confederate flag painted on the top (I don't care if it was in a TV show at some point).

Bubba Watson for sure.

He looks to be crying half the time he's playing bad and complains constantly.

Another one for me is any player that rambles on about his/her deity after winning. They never thank their deity after losing.

Agreed. God that annoys me.

Any player who takes FOREVER to hit the ball. Good thing that TV edits out much of this pre-shot routine and back-offs. I'm amazed at how long some of these players take when I personally attend one of the tournaments. Must drive some of the faster players nuts.

For some reason, I've always disliked Justin Leonard (except for one particular Sunday afternoon in September of 1999). Something about the way he carries himself on the course just doesn't sit well with me.

I dont know if I "cant stand" anyone popular on tour but if I had to choose it would be Bubba.

Never liked Furyk much. Hate his routine, especially on the green and he comes off as an arrogant rick with a p.

Jim Furyk is suuuuper annoying when he's putting....Rory Sabatini bugs the crap out of me. Throw a little Patty Reed in there too. Everyone else is cool lol.

For what it's worth, I've met Justin Leonard several times (I've been a standard bearer at the Wyndham for about 5 years now).  I've never seen him turn down an autograph request -- even when walking from the driving range to the 1st tee -- and he's always been very courteous to all of the volunteers.

That being said, he's a rather intense guy on the course.  When he's not playing well, which is increasingly often, you do sort of sense a simmering rage of a volcano underneath it all.

I'd point out that the premise of this thread is different from those threads.

I'm probably gunna get slammed for this but something about Phil rubs me the wrong way. I get the whole good guy image and all the smiles and all of that but it just annoys me. Sometimes the media just wants to shove it down our throat about how great of a guy he is. "Oh Phil flew back and forth from California to be a chaperon at his daughters 6th grade mixer and now hes back here playing golf 10 hours later." "Oh and he spent 16 hours after his round signing autographs until his tee time the next day."

I get that he's popular and he's basically the media's version of the anti-tiger but I just think most of it can be so contrived. He complains about course set ups more than most players, I couldn't believe his ridiculous rant about his tax bracket in California and i'm sorry but get a hair cut. That's probably really stupid but I just hate the California surfer boy hair on an over 40 professional. I get that its all apart of his image and I get that he's beloved by many but I've just never bought into that. My grandmother always told she rooted for him because she want one of her daughters to marry a guy just like him. Always made me throw up a little in my mouth.

Don't get me wrong I don't root against him when he's playing well. I enjoyed his win at the Open Championship last year and thought that was a great moment for golf but i'm never gunna buy into the media created darling boy of golf image.

*Cue the masses.

You must be talking about Kevin Streelman? lol

Miguel Angel Jimenez takes the cake for me ... He might be the most interesting man in golf, but he annoys the hell out of me ...

Sabbatini is a close second
