Just curious, why isn't Rory McIlroy in the field?

Good question - a couple of the top players aren't playing. Could be the course design, could be their prep for Augusta. You'd think Lefty would honor AP by showing up as well.

Scott -10...does anyone know if he just chipped in or was it a putt?

hard to tell on shot tracker - you can be sure that GC will show his highlights several times over......has a makeable 6 footer on his second to last hole.

I'm on shot tracker too...looks like he missed the birdie putt just now.

Would loved to have seen his reaction. No doubt his caddies fault, or the crowds, or something other than himself

Just saw Bubba has WD. I hate to speculate, because it could be injury or something else, but the more of his antics I see, the more I find him one of the biggest babies on tour. I understand you shot an 83, with an 11 on the card. But you are at Arnold Palmer's tournament, and you stay and try your best for two rounds.

Ya I know huh. I used to like Bubba, thought he played great when he won the Masters. But now he's just being a prick the past couple years, always whining about something.

Patrick Reed only shot -3?

Surprising, as he's won 3 times on tour in the last 7 months, won the 2006 Junior British open, led University High to state championships in both 2006 and 2007, won the state medalist honors in 2007, and he earned Rolex AJGA All-America honors in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Then he helped lead Augusta State to NCAA Division I Golf Championship in 2010 and 2011 and also advanced to the semifinals of the 2008 U.S. Amateur.

Also, he's a top 5 player in the world, so I expected a lot more.

Don't forget, saved money on caddy fees by making his wife do it...probably switched to Geico too.

haha indeed, via twitter he blamed it on his allergies. Twice. At least he didn't blame his caddie.

Really not much to talk about there.

Trevino on anchored putting: 'It's like cheating'.....'Now I see why they want to make this one illegal,' he added. 'It's like cheating. I swear to God. This is the easiest thing I've ever seen to putt with, is that belly putter.'

So? There's not much to discuss. Surely you're aware of the fact that it's been made illegal as of 2016, right? We've even got a whole big thread for it:

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
