I've been saying that for years! The "guy", btw, is Joaquin Phoenix. ;)

I thought it was Johnny Cash. ;-)

And it's "Gladiator", not "The Gladiator". :smartass:

Oddly enough, both men were born with a cleft palet (something I actually have as well and is not very common). You can see the scar above Phoenix lip. Johnson doesn't have one, but he's said in a few interviews he was born with one.

Joaquin Phoenix was born with a microform cleft lip. He does not have a cleft palate.

Sorry...cleft lip is what i meant. I have the same scar he does, although mine's more noticable. From what I've read, Zach had cleft lip as well, although he doesn't have a scar.

    • I've been a Footjoy man for several years.  They last well, but I also rotate between 4-6 shoes (yes, I have several pairs of golf shoes).  I often buy insoles with each new pair too.   Then they're comfortable!
    • Day 187 (05 Nov 24) -  Got in some time with the 4&5 hybrids in the backyard - hitting hard foam balls.  Rehearsing preshot routine, focusing on tempo, by reenacting some of the shorter par 4s at my regular course - hybrid off the tee, hybrid approaches.
    • Day 36 - 2024-11-05 Went downtown for a little over three hours. 90 minutes of that was doing other stuff, but I got a little practice in. Some messing with GSPro (v3 is now out) and the settings, some chipping, some little stuff. Not a ton of full swing stuff, and what I did there was mostly backswing stuff.
    • Great point - my experience from the 2004 Oakland Hills Ryder Cup. I got 4 tickets for Friday, had some buddies go with me and we saw shots on about 4 holes. You really have to decide who you want to see, then try to jump ahead to see them somewhere on the back 9. If you got into the grandstands then you'd likely have a good view only of that green/tee box.  Sidenote: I knew a guy who was a member at Birmingham CC, and he was a marshal on the 18th hole and he was out there all day, both morning and afternoon groups. And he had 1 group play the hole in the morning and another in the afternoon. Huge corporate tents around the 18 green, along with some grandstands. And you get to see maybe 6 or 7 shots counting the approach and putts.  Learned my lesson, I have no issue in going to another Ryder Cup, especially at the prices they want for 2025. I think it was $40 for a practice round (went to one of those as well) and maybe $75 for Friday/Saturday, $100 for Sunday. And it was "limited" to 20,000 tickets/day, which is still very crowded to follow 4 pairings around the course.
    • Of course he can score in the low 70's in a really short course driving it that short. But the course rating is going to be in the 60's so is not like he can call himself a scratch player.
