Sad news for baseball.  Not going to get preachy, but stop chewing tobacco, kids.  I guarantee Tony wishes he had.

Very sad news. Gwynn was my favorite baseball player, hands down, and this is coming from an Angel's fan. Of all the things that were missed in the players strike of '94, I think Gwynn's chase for .400 was the biggest loss. I remember opening up the box score every morning and like clockwork, Gwynn was putting together another multi hit game. I still think he could have made a run at Ted Williams, the way he was hitting.

I'm 4 years younger than Gwynn was, but I have a couple of things in common with him – being fat and dipping forever. Time to clean my act up.

Best of luck to you. If his death helps you turn around your habits, you've helped turn something sad into something positive.

Tony Gwynn seemed to love the sport he played. Hearing espn reel of his offensive stats are remarkable, nobody will ever be able to carve their way into the history books the way he beautifully did. not to mention his numerous gold gloves, he was one of the greats. It is without question a sad day for baseball indeed.

Dude, best of luck to you. Not something you want to mess around with...

    • Tale of two swings.  Swing 1: Slightly outside takeaway (hands move outside of target line) only to allow trail elbow over collapsing at P4. Doesn't take much to overdo it for the trail elbow collapse to only further exaggerate. That's death. Swing 2: Hands stay slight in at takeaway for a much better trail elbow condition at P4. This is a hard sell from an instinct perspective. More focus on un-weighting and re-weighting of lead foot to unlock a bit more mobility of hips and torso. A major flaw that creeps up often is me swinging flat footed and becoming overly armsy-collapsy as a result. Got reminded of this the hard way during my 2nd round match for club net championship. Was cruising along 2up until I made the turn. Then lost the swing for next five holes. Andy was playing good enough to capitalize. By the time I regained my swing on 16th, it was too late. Even Andy was like "That was a gift". Obviously that stings because have played well enough lately. Should have closed him out of the game comfortably with a few holes to spare. Shoulda woulda coulda. Tough lesson. Damn. P.S. I know the swings look very similar but trust me there is a difference.
