First post since last summer’s shut down due to injuries. Below are 7-iron and driver videos. I’m working on the pitch elbow feel because I was straightening my right arm too soon and casting. I’ve made some progress after getting my Evolvr analysis. Still have a way to go, but I see progress.

I like the new net setup, @boogielicious. Good to see you back at it, keep up the good work.

Love A7 FO with the 7I. DL looking pretty good, too.

Gonna play to a 6 this year, right? :-)

April 13 - Did more net work. My lesson has me focusing on the feeling like my right elbow stays bent through impact (pitch elbow). Stephan also wants me to not to push my hips as far forward on the practice swings as I am doing below. I should feel more rotation. So I will have to film that.

I also worked a little on flatten the shaft at A4 as seen on the DTL views. It feels like a Ricky Fowler move, but in reality is just flattening (Feel ain't real!). What this does is help me keep that pitch elbow feel. I feel like I can rotate, keep the elbow bent and moving around my body and keep the club on plane.

I think the 7 iron is coming along. The A7 looks decent and I feel like I am making clean contact. I need to keep rotating more so A8 will be better.

The driver is still not as good at A7. A4 looks good, but I am still straighten the elbow too soon. I will keep working on this for a few weeks before sending in another video to Evolvr. I may send a pitching video while I work on this.

A funny thing about the yellow strap. I use it as a target to see where my ball is launching. If I hit it dead on, it flies all over! I may switch to a rope.

My driver seems to always go right of the strap, which is dead on DTL from my feet alignment.  My irons will go just right or hit the strap. I use the same grip on both, but the driver tends to be a fade or push fade and the irons a draw. I hate the driver hook, so I will play with this fade as I start the season and see how it goes. I don't want to change anything while I am working on the pitch elbow.

Very cool to see someone with the same/similar priority piece working through this. Cheers to you for working through it with slow and specific swings. That’s new for me, but I’m trying to do that as well.

Cool station Scott. Level stance, auto ball feed.

It is a work in progress. Sometimes it ejects balls right back at me. :-P I've got to optimize the tension on the net.

I played on Sunday (9 holes) and Tuesday (18). For the most part, putting and pitching were very good. Irons were mediocre with fat shots and pulls. Driver, the first day 4/5 nice drivers with slight fade and one slice. Tuesday, the driver was all over the place.

I felt really out of sorts in the front nine but recovered a bit on the back. I was hitting a straight draw/pull draw with good contact with the irons and just played that way on the back nine aligning right.

Lots of work to do to get back to form.

Some drill work on my priority piece. Working on keeping the right elbow bent longer and more rotation by my hips vs sliding forward. Not sure why the videos are fuzzy

May 20 - Worked on my backswing and downswing to A6. My Evolvr instructor suggested an few things including not flattening the shaft as much at A4 and adding palmar flexion from A4 to A6 to square up the shaft. I added yellow tape to the sole of the driver to see it better. Still looks slightly open at A6 with the driver.

Worked on my backswing per my Evolvr lesson. I’m having trouble squaring the club face in the downswing and I was taking the clubhead back too inside. So I’m working on the takeaway from A2-3 to keep the head outside the hands, steeper at A3, and the face more closed at A4. Setting it this way should make it easier on the down swing.

I’m also taking the club back slower as rushing my swing has been an issue. Below are driver and 7 Iron. The 7 iron needs a bit more work. I also may need a tad more secondary axis tilt at setup.

Glad you are back at it Scott! I personally would love to see a little more athletic posture in your set up. We need to play again. Cheers.

July 2

I'm on vacation  but still am working on my swing. Below I am working on new items from my Evolvr instructor with the aim of reducing hooks. I was having a problem with my grip feeling like it was closing the face of the club. We kept the left hand strong but moved the left thumb more on top. Then my right hand goes over the left thumb. We then lowered the handle at address and swing doing punch shots holding at A8-9 for a second or two, then going to finish. The aim is to keep the club face from closing to much before impact.

Still a ways to go to get the finish he wants, but ball flight has been better.

Looking good, @boogielicious! How's the knee holding up? Back to 100% yet?

    • Driver might be out of the bag indefinitely. All I got for success on camera and ball flight is like 50% swing speed. Anything more and it’s all over the place and strike is all over the clubface.  I got no athleticism/flow right now with what I want to do. It’s too dangerous for me because the swing will just get too long and unstable at P4. It’s very robotic feeling right now.

    • He's not and GEARS doesn't really measure toward your midline. It's measured at the joint. That's not why his use of "midline" is bad (part of the reason is that your "midline" is twisted, the top of your sternum can be pointed at a different place than the belt buckle, and your shoulders protract and retract, too. I think he's just trying to use midline to say which way the arm is moving. But they have terms for that — adduction and abduction — so whatever.
    • They weren't necessarily short - I don't remember the exact specifics of all of it, but some of them were missing a little left or right or both. Day 1 they were landing on the edge and kicking on, where day 2 they were just missing and kicking down into the bunkers and did it a lot. I think all told I actually went into bunkers on 8 holes. Some of them were not good shots. Like a few examples, on 8, the pin was in the back. I hit it solidly, but pulled it and it went long, over the bunker into long grass. I had the ball in sandy earth with long grass around it and about a foot below my feet. That next shot I tried to do what I could but it went into the bunker in front of me. Into a footprint. That one I dug out of the footprint, but still in the bunker. Got that one out of the bunker, but into the fringe grass in front of me. Chipped that one on a bit hard and two putts later made a 7. Another was on 14. The flag was on the little finger of green front left. I tried to play a little past it and a little right. Shoved it maybe 10 yards right of where I wanted to and the carry over the bunker gets longer the further right you go and that one hit the grass between the green and the bunker and came back down into the sand, left it in there and didn't get up and down on the next one. I think carrywise it carried about as far as I was planning on it doing so. Another was on 6, leaked my drive a little right into the fairway bunker. Hit a nearly good shot from there that went a little left and a little short and kicked into the bunker front left. That was a strike thing and just a hard shot. Did similar on 18. Drive in the right bunker, slightly heavy second that hit the bank between green and bunker again and kicked back into the sand. I think the tiredness manifested more as not squaring the face up so well and less as slowing down.
    • Depends on how short you were coming up on these shots. A bit more wind? Also, maybe you were swinging at 2-3 mph slower the next day.  I think the biggest thing is not adjusting. Like making assuming your stock shot is not enough and taking 1 club up. Not sure what type of adjustments you were making in your decision making.
