Warming up for the Newport Cup

Nah. Turning pro in a couple months, so I won't be eligible as I understand. B-)

Had a very enjoyable day with @mvmac , @tristanhilton85 , and @Bechambo today at Torrey Pines. http://www.gamegolf.com/player/golfingdad/round/217726 I hadn't played there in forever, and the course was immaculate.  A couple of careless shots and sloppy putts, and a round that could very easily have been in the 70's ended up as an 86.  Oh well, it was still a great day! The ball at the bottom of the screen and the marker halfway to the hole just to the right of that line were both eagle putts on 18 :) ... That were ultimately missed. :(

My round from today at Torrey Pines North . @Golfingdad Kind of disappointed I'm not in any of the pictures. I know I didn't give you permission, but I thought it was implied. :~( (feeling left out). :offtopic: Actually, I should bring a real camera next time and take some pro-pics. I'm in to that.

I didn't take many, mike got a lot though (videos too I think) but here you go ... This was, I believe, your birdie attempt on 16.

Yep had a great time with @Bechambo , @tristanhilton85 and @Golfingdad . Weather was awesome and the course was in great shape.

Here's my Torrey Pines round. Hit a lot of quality shots for shooting such a crappy score, that's golf

And my round at Bernardo Heights from a few weeks ago. Was having some issues uploading this round, that's why it's taken me so long.

My first GameGolf round and my first round of the year.  Man do I hate that first time I get out every year.  I play so poorly!

I love this system too BTW!  The one thing that I am having a problem with is tagging before every shot.  I kept forgetting but luckily it picked them up..

Like I said, I love this system so far!

My first round on the number 2 course in Europe (Noordwijkse Golfclub). Unfortunately, it was very foggy (and the greens were still as difficult as they can be) and I couldn't score like I wanted to.

I played my first 9 of the year Friday, also my first time using GG. Kinda rusty, approach shots were short. Overall, not my best or worst. http://www.gamegolf.com/player/KSimmons/round/226015

First round of the calendar year: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/billchao/round/232739

It was cold, windy, and started to rain by the 3rd hole. I fought a two-way miss with the driver and started topping the ball on the 6th. New (to me) irons are a whole club shorter than previous irons, so I'll have to get used to that.

Made par on the 1st and 4th holes after errant drives, but the 7th is my highlight of the round:

I was totally expecting to 4-putt from there.

4 shots into hazards cost me all of my shots yesterday.  The bright side was that I putted really well even with slow, bumpy greens.  They were aerated 14 days ago.  I had 30 total putts and 4 of those were birdie putts that just burned the edges (one caught a bit of the lip).

Side note:  Annoyed by the map of this course.  It's my new home course, and for some reason, google maps/GG have a very, VERY low resolution view of everything.  I can't zoom in very far because it turns into a green blur.  I hope they fix that!

Got out for 9 holes after work and while everything has been kinda hectic with my swing lately I held it together until the 7th hole. Decided to go 3 wood since my miss has been a hook and worst case I'm 50 yds from the green and can punch out. Instead I hit a block right and found the tiny creek. Very next hole I hooked one OB and had the wrong club at the green so that cost me 3 more strokes. Either way, not disappointed considering its so early in the season.

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
