Interesting timing given the news we discussed yesterday where most ripped a cop for giving a 7 year old a ticket for driving a golf cart.

There's quite a few people that make fun of my ability to find any way around a steep hill on a golf cart. Tipping in a golf cart on a steep hill scares the shit out of me....and this news doesn't help.

I think that's an odd way of characterizing that discussion.

I don't think anyone agreed that it was wrong to even get a ticket, more the way the cop handled things.

Guests typically roll two carts a year at my course.  Either they think they are ATV vehicles, or they are off-road racers.  Usually, alcohol is involved.  Have seen grown men, 40+ years old, deliberately jump golf carts over curbs and ditches.  (Yamaha, we need three more new axles and five alignments this month)  Would LOVE to just throw the whole group off the course sometimes, but then they trash the place on all social media.

I was involved in a pretty serious golf cart accident about 10 years ago. I wasn't driving, but I sustained all of the injuries. Still have a the scars to show for it. Here's the worst of it.

Uhm, I put those in spoiler tags for you.

Doesn't freak me out, but others won't want to just scroll and see that… :D

The course I play at frequently (Conklin Players Club) has a huge hill on the 18th hole from the elevated tee down to the fairway, and, it's at least a 100 yard drop to the fairway from the tee.  The cart path goes all the way around through the woods.  Last time I played with a friend the group of idiots decided to traverse down the hill instead with the cart, skidding the whole way down.  Needless to say the owner of the course happened to see this and within a minute or two due to the close proximity to the clubhouse 2 Rangers arrived and escorted the group off the course.  I can say I would NEVER trust a golf cart going down that hill, some scary stuff.  That's awful news.

I see guys of similar age group do some serious shenanigans with carts at my course too, typically alcohol is involved. Prayers to the families of the deceased.

I was riding with a guy who lost control of a cart on a long steep hill. We both leaped like frogs from the cart as it went tumbling end of end down the hill. luckily we weren't hurt and our clubs were OK. They were strewn about the course though. The cart was a smouldering wreck, so we pushed it down a ravine. Still get a chuckle thinking about that. PS, that was nearly 40 years ago.

I am familiar with the course, that the man died at and reasonably certain of the exact location. if you are not paying attention, maybe some adult beverages and if the brakes are touchy and out of adjustment......this is not surprising event. RIP

I worked at a course in Fayetteville NC, and we had a cart path with a long down hill and a curve at the bottom. We just replaced the fleet of carts, and a guy tried to see how fast he could take the curve. He tipped the cart, and returned it with the frame that held the roof all bent. With the exception of a few scratches, he was not injured. On a different hole, I did a 360 going down a wet fairway at moderate speed. I wasn't going too fast, but I stepped lightly on the brakes and went for a spin.
