Getting back in shape, snowboarding, working on my game the best I can. That about covers it.

How are the leaves in Spokane on the courses you play?  During my November play here in PA, I always take old golf balls because I know that I will be losing a few along the way. I played the last three days and only lost two balls.  It's been a good year.

The leaves get pretty bad but not as bad as your neck of the woods. We have plenty of pines here in the northwest so there is a good mixture of trees. I lived in Mass. and Connecticut for a year for work so I understand your leaf issue :) Totally crazy!

Those simulator prices are crazy!!!

Our simulator (68 golf courses - technically we're a distributor for them, and they make the software that powers 95% of other simulators out there) costs our members $50.

For the year.

$50/h is definitely on the pricey side but it depends on how they charge. At my place it's $36/h regardless of the number of players. 4 guys can easily play a full 18 in about 2-2.5 hours if no one is dicking around so that works out to about $20 a head plus whatever you choose to spend on drinky-winkies. Even at $50/h that scenario works out to about $30 a head for 18 holes which ain't too bad at all.

I don't have any friends who are into golf. It's for my own benefit only, so it really doesn't matter if they let multiple people play from the same bay. I think they're charging based on supply, as I haven't found many simulator places around. Problem is, they priced themselves right out of a potential customer (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). I was actually tempted to sign up for the membership rate until I found out about the initiation fee. I'll just stick to heated ranges (there are two right by me now) and indoor work.

To be fair, the sim is only a microscopic aspect of your business model whereas the places that Bill and I are talking about live and die by their sim bays.

Yes, of course.

Still seems pricy. Golf courses don't seem to charge that much and their overhead is MUCH higher.

I lost about 6 weeks to a bad injury through late September and have begun back strengthening exercises that I will continue.  I may get out one more time this season but it is just about over.  I have no simulator nearby and no plans for any warm weather trips so when I put the clubs away they will likely stay there until the Spring.  Inside repairs and some fly tying will occupy the majority of my Winter days.

Being in my early 70's and living n Michigan here are my plans.

November - Week before Thanksgiving going with 3 others to Santee, SC for 4 to 6 days of golf.

December - Sit home look at the snow and dream

January - Trip to L.V. (pronounced "Lost Wages") with side trips to Palm Springs, CA and St. George, UT. Golf all three locations.

February - Rented condo in Gulf Shores, AL area. Lots of golf in AL & FL

March - pray for early spring

This plan is designed not to use up energy by exercising.

I am on my first season of golf, so I really want to be able do do some training during the winter. I live in Sweden which is a very cold place, so in a couple of weeks I guess the nearby courses will close. I do think that there might be a indoor range in a town close by as well as a couple of simulators, so I will try to get there fairly regurarly this coming winter

Well we had 10" of heavy wet snow fall today in Northern Maine so my season is pretty much over, hoping after it melts we slip in one or two mild days to maybe get out one last time. My plan this winter is to take a little time off  and then in January get back to swinging. The golf team bought an OptiShot last year that I have setup in the music room at our high school where I teach so I go in once or twice a week and play on it. I am working on my hip turn as I tend to over-swing quite because of a huge hip turn. Plan on making it more within reason along with not releasing my lag too early.

Man, you guys got dumped on. We got about an inch or two in Northern Michigan Friday night but was gone by today. Had the entire course to myself this afternoon (temps in the 40's) but it might be the last weekend of the season.

Can't afford to buy a sim so I think I'll make an impact bag. I think everything I need to work on can be done with an impact bag.

Chipper2, although I'm 37 years old I want to be you when I grow up! Those look like great plans! Enjoy and let us know how it goes.
