Can you play Entrada since it's Private?

Thought they were only a semi private club.

I haven't been out there for a while, but played it over a dozen times.

I believe there are package deals(stay & play) or reciprocal means to play.

Search on the web or give them a call.

Has anyone gone up and played either Wolf Creek or Coyote Springs in Mesquite?  Is it worth the drive to go play either  of those courses?

I've played both.   Favor Wolf Creek by a longshot.    In fact, no comparison from an aesthetic point of view.   Coyote Springs is a fine golf course, but WC is an experience not to be missed if in the area...

What course in St. George is worth the drive?

Sand Hollow, Hurricane, UT - the red rock vistas and views are spectacular.   if you're into scenery, I'd put Sand Hollow almost as high on the list as Wolf Creek.

I booked a tee time at Wolf Creek already.  Can't wait to play it.

Played Bali Hai this week. Overall, a good round, but wouldn't play there again.

My 2-cents worth:

Pros:

- On the strip and close cab ride to all major hotels.

- fairways and greens in good condition.

- Well manicured and pretty/picturesque course (lots of green and palm trees)

- Challenging course with water and bunkers protecting most holes.

- Lots of staff and good service.

Cons:

- No GPS/screen in carts. For the price range this course is in, there should be GPS with fairway layouts in each cart. Especially since most of the people playing here are probably from out of town trying to get away from the Casinos and not familiar with course.

- No real driving range. You hit into a netted area.

- This could have been just an isolated incident, but I was rushed off the "range area" by the starter to start my round even though I had 45 mins left to start. I was hoping to get a little more warm up beforehand.

- Airport planes/choppers noise is intense. Literally next door.

- Fairways all very slim.

- Fairways mostly looked alike. Almost cookie cutter like. Just found it boring after a while.

- Did not see any ranger the whole time. Group ahead was too slow and caused backup..

- Was asked to have my photo taken before round. Later they tried to sell it to me for $20. Tacky..

Wow, I was curious and went to google maps and I see what you mean.  There appear to be either 8 or 9 holes that just go right back and forth north and south and all look very similar.  It looks like they just didn't have enough room and crammed it all in there as best as they could between I-15 and the strip.

If I ever golf in Vegas, I'll try to remember to play elsewhere before I play here. :)

National is one I'm considering playing in June when I'm there, it's 4 blocks from where I'm staying.

The last couple times at National have been very disappointing.  Course is in rough shape and the creek that runs through the course looks like a garbage dump.  more than $20 is too much considering it is vacation golf.

We come to Vegas for or fantasy football draft and have a little golf tournament to kick things off.  Last year we played Spanish Trail and it was fun (except for the sand traps that had about 1" deep sand then hardpan underneath).  Suggestions for a group ranging from serious to starters?  Wolf Creek looks interesting, but the drive may make getting back for the draft that evening tough.  How rough does that course get the days before overseeding takes place?

THANKS!!

I had the chance to play Bali Hai for free thanks to my boss. It isn't one of the best courses out here and there are quite a few negatives, but it certainly isn't a dump. Again, it's really close to the strip and if you don't have a rental and venture too far off the path you'll be paying a lot of money to a taxi driver instead of paying towards golf.

Same goes for Dessert Pines and National that are extremely closer than most courses. In my opinion National is more for the experience of playing a older course that pros once played (Tiger for example) and were the parts of the movie Casino was filmed. The bar is a cool place that strip performers such as Dean Martin and Sinatra frequented.  To go there with expectation that you're playing a pristine course is a bit far fetched. Now that they are one of the few courses in the Nation to offer the GolfBoard is a pretty cool thing to try out as well, I think it's well worth the extra 20 bucks.

Pauite is not that bad of a drive compared to mesquite, and usually its in better condition than most public courses in town due to having their own water rights. Pauite consist of 3 courses, I've played Snow and Sun Mountain a few times. Have yet to play wolf course which boast being the Longest course in Nevada (7,604 yrds) and a really cool island green par 3. I'd say Snow is the easier of the three. Still be sure to have the beginners play from a tee box that isn't going to make the day too frustrating. The beauty is there's no houses for miles to hit.

Here's that par 3 of the Pauite Wolf Course. I really need to go play it soon to complete the trifecta :)

Thanks Lesterday,

We've got cars so no need for cab rides or anything like that.  Paiute looks like a good idea.  Since one of my goals is to play TPC Sawgrass, I'd love to give that island green a shot on the Wolf course, but some of us may not survive the length of the course!  lol  One of the other tracks is a definite possibility!

Played Wolf Creek last spring. Definite bucket list course. Coyote Springs the next day was a letdown, especially considering the drive to get there, double-wide clubhouse with chewy sandwiches and ambivalent staff. Oasis and Conestoga in Mesquite were both nice, acceptable courses. Not awesome, but good values for the dollar. We played all 54 at Paiute in November. Loved them and would do it again in a heartbeat. Good value and memorable. Very well-maintained. A little remote, but an easy drive. Plane delay allowed us to sneak in Bear's Best the last day. Average condition, but my first "replica course" and we had a blast. I was shooting a career round when the sun totally disappeared on 16 and we had to quit. Everyone in our group ha a ball playing there , although the staff was kinda bleh. Hope that can help folks pick a course or two!!

Which course at Paiute did you like the best, I probably won't have enough time to play them all.

The Wolf is the signature course at Paiute and deservedly so. Keep it in the green, as the desert will comsume any ball that gets astray. And yes, I'm a Ram living in the Cowboy State, which creates its share of bar fights! Go Rams!!

    • He’s also the best anchoring putter there is!😏
    • And  he  has had alot  of  health issues as you expect  from someone still playing at  67
    • Good read (pun intended) as I have been using my feet more to feel the break and trusting these 65yr eyes less.  The only caveat to my case is that most rounds I wear a carbon graphite brace that runs the length of my left foot (replicates the toe "lift" sensation while walking by putting pressure on the rear of the left calf muscle and makes a great conversation piece to the guys I play with), and I tend to find the weight sensation somewhat muted on that foot when I wear it.  I do occasionally play without it and the left foot read gives a better transmission of info.  However not matter which way I'm playing that day (brace/no brace), pacing off the distance and coming back about 1/2 way and getting a foot read has really helped me determine the break, the startline and oveall pace.  Using my feet has definitely improved my confidence in terms of putting.
    • To still be winning tournaments at 67 is quite incredible. He must also be the youngest person to have shot his age or better by however many times he's done it. Amazing.
