You bet!  Anything that will make the story better.

Yeah, that was pretty impressive. It's not like he planned it or anything, right? :-D

Some guy i got randomly partnered with pulled his drive left on a par five. got stuck behind a tree in the rough. He had something like 250 to the flag but he had to hit a big draw around this tree. pulled it off with the highest drawing 3 wood i've ever seen. Landed soft to about 12 feet. He attempted four other shots that cost him quite a few more strokes than that birdie but that one shot was pretty impressive.

While waiting for a group ahead of me, the guy behind me catches up and we end up playing the rest of the nine together. He told me he used to be a 10HC but is now around a 20. I can tell he's got a pretty good game but nothing spectacular.

We get to a dogleg left par 4 with a generous fairway - as long as you keep it right. He doesn't. Having hit my second shot from where he has landed a few times, I know he has to punch out. When I get to my ball, he's taking full practice swings and I'm positive he's going to end up in the trees or the ravine. But he curves the ball right to left more than I thought was possible and lands it on the green. The shot was only about 130yds. I still don't know how he did it.

Laura Davies in the Safeway Classic in Portland, OR about ten years ago. Dogleg left, par 4. Her drive went into the right-side rough, short of the dogleg. The green was a long iron away, bunkered on the right, with a vertical drop to a marshy creek area hard on the left.

She hit a low hook that landed about twenty yards short of the green and ran and ran right between the two hazards on to the center of the green. Just amazing.

Went to Virginia back in the 1970's to visit my brother. Played golf with him and a couple of his friends. His buddy make a hole-in-one on a par 4 using a driver. It rained later during the round and we never finished. I never saw his buddy after that, either. And, to be truthful, I can't even remember what the name of the course was.

Also, I was on the first hole at Oakmont Country Club (site of the 2016 US Open), and a friend of mine hit a great drive and only had an 8 iron left to the green. He hits his second shot thin and the ball rolls about 150 yards into the hole for an eagle. We kidded him that he reads fairway breaks better than most people we know.

This goes back at least 15 years at Buick Open Grand Blanc, MI - drive ends up in right side rough trees blocking shot toward green, I say to myself he has to punch out to fairway leaving a clear shot to green. This guy hit a low hook that resembled a banana and the ball bounced its way up onto green. Incredible!

Last year, playing a round with my Uncle at Willow Valley G & CC. Par 3, downhill, pin near the back, . My shot was "in the region of the green" thanks to a "powerfade". H steps up pulls his 7 iron from his new Ping I25 set and says "not been able to hit this well thing yet". Nice swing, one hop, stops a foot from the hole........cant hit it well my ****!!!

He's 68 and still my golfing hero!

My wife (who is not really a golfer but comes out occasionally) and I did a stay and play at La Quinta several years back.  We were  playing one of the courses (I think it was the Jack Nicklaus course) when my wife hit into a sand trap.  Not just any sand trap, one of those with a 15 foot high timber lined front wall - there were stairs to get down there.   So she goes on down (after I tell her to take a swing or two and then just throw it) and swings at the ball. Through the magic of - well - magic, she catches the ball perfectly.  She clears the giant monster wall in front of her and the ball ends up about 6 inches from the hole.  Put Phil or Tiger there with 50 balls each and I'd bet $100 that neither of them would get inside of where she ended up. She made the putt.  LOL

I had a similar shot to this years ago. The trap was so deep, I was several feet below green level and all I could see was the top of the pin and the pin was only a few paces from the edge of the green. My ball was buried in the face of the bunker. I had to brush away some sand to identify it. I figured all I could do was to dislodge it so I could then take a normal bunker shot. The ball flew out and landed right next to the pin. I never saw it. I could hear my friends saying "Great shot". Couldn't do that again in 100 tries. In retrospect, I should have taken an unplayable lie, but what fun is that!

When me and my friend were about 15 years old we decided to try out a new championship course from the back tees. We're at the 15th hole, a long uphill par 5, and my friend takes out his driver (an old callaway I think, it was old even back then. It looked pretty much like a 3W). He hits probably the purest shot I've ever seen in my life and the ball takes off, we can't see it. We walk up to the ~250 yard area but can't find the ball, we think it's lost. Up ahead we see the marshall in his cart waiving us down. We walk over and find my friends ball, dead centre of the fairway, about 340 yards from the tee. The marshall thought it was his second shot! He ended up eagling the hole too! We still talk about it to this day, none of us can believe it went 340 yards uphill with an old driver.

#18 at Hiddenbrooke in Vallejo, CA is a par 5. my buddy pikes a drive and has about 240 in. he decides he's going to go for the green and waits for the group ahead to clear.

i'm still not sure how these morons did it, but as they left the green they put the flagstick back in the hole in such a manner that it was leaning left at about a 35 degree angle.

my buddy, shaking his head and muttering obscenities at them, then proceeds to rip a 3W which hits the flagstick - on the fly - and knocks it completely out of the hole. ball skips away to about 30 feet, and he two-putts for birdie.

never seen anything like it.

Best?  Not really sure, but I remember the funniest.  My home course growing up has a 100-yard par 3 with a steep hill to the right that was hard pan and weeds during the summer.  My friend Rick shanks one up the hill. He turn away in disgust, swearing up a storm.  Sure enough, his ball gets a favorable bounce and rounds a small tree on the hill and starts rolling towards the green.  "Uh, Rick? Maybe you should turnaround." At that moment the ball clears the weeds, heads to the green and, of course, it goes in.   Worst hole-in-one in history.

I would guess the best shot I've seen was from a 30 handicap player. He hit his perfect cut from 150 yards out on a par 4 and made eagle.

C'mon..................I've holed-out 12 times on par4s for deuces and have 1 ACE so most of the best shots I have witnessed are my own!!!  LOL

I did witness a playing partner ACE.  This must be the best shot I have witnessed by a playing partner.  This par3 was playing about 157yds from an elevated tee so we could watch it hit short, take a hop........and roll into the cup like a putt.  That WAS pretty fun to watch!!!!!!!!

On the next tee, the guy who made the ACE step out and proclaims .............."I always wanted to ask this question so here it goes....... ""WERE THERE ANY ZERO's?"...... to make sure he had honors on the next tee!!  Hahahahaha....................

I was playing for the first time ever at my current home course in a scramble.

We were a thrown-together team of stragglers, but it seemed like someone had a hot shot on almost every hole. We ended up winning, -11 for a 61.

The truth-teller came on No. 16, a tight par 4 playing at 340 yards that day. OB left, and creek-swampgrass on the right. For our drive, a guy who half-topped a 5i about 150 yards off the tee was the best we could do. Then, our local karate instructor sinks a 4H from 190 yds. out for an eagle!  The ball hit about 6 feet from the cup and tricked in.

The karate instructor, G.M. Yang, qualified for his PGA card in the Fall.. A sad note - Mr. Yang was killed in an auto accident while visiting his native South Korea a few months later.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Little bit of an oldish thread, but have to say the best (worst) hole in one I have ever heard or seen happened to my playing partner during high school tryouts. The hole is a 130 yd par 3 with a bunker and drop-off left and a giant hill with the cart path on the right. The guy hit a dead shank which hit the cart path, kicked off of a tree, hit the cart path again, and rolled down the hill on the green and in. We were incredulous that such could happen. Needless to say, the guy doubled the next hole, so the golf gods can giveth, but they also taketh away.

I was in a tournament in the early 90s (I was probably 10 or 11 yrs old). One of the kids that played in my state circuit at the time, who I really didnt care for, got a hole in 1 on a par 3 at my local course. Since it was a tournament he got his name on a plaque with everyone else who got hole in 1s during tournaments at the club. I remember it because I hated seeing his name there every time I went golfing haha.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
