The BB is always a welcome wintertime golf diversion around here. We got around 8 inches of snow yesterday so I won't be playing anytime soon.

I see the female cohost, prior to Paige, has returned. I've forgotten her name. She was ok, I thought, and certainly easy on the eyes. As far as Tom Abbott goes, I actually like him and find him rather humorous.

Here's to a good BB season.

I watched it tonight and it does look like it will be a good season. As for the brothers, doing trick shots and accuracy under stress may prove to be  challenge.

Took up golf late in life with a lot to catch up.

I was underwhelmed by the first show. Will just have to see if it becomes a little more entertaining/interesting. Just my personal perspective.

My sense from reviewing the contestants is that this batch of players might be pretty darned good, better on whole than the last couple seasons. I'm not sure about how entertaining they might be, and I suppose the quality of play is independent from the entertainment value.

Haven't watched it yet, but  they mostly seemed like they'd be the hard-working, industrious types, who have put in their time to make it successful in golf. Maybe those guys aren't as flashy as some of the younger guns like Anthony that have been on in the past. He's the model of the guy who won't last if he doesn't make it big fairly quickly, I would think. I doubt I'll remember to look him up in 2017, but my guess is that he won't be still struggling on mini-tours.

If you persevere over the years, that might filter out non-serious people to some extent, and perhaps the personalities that make BB entertaining get weeded out over time, if they don't attain success after a couple years. Or maybe that's all just a bunch of crap- who knows? This batch of players seems to have a decent level of experience, so I was hoping the golf would be pretty good, at least.

These guys. Bet they're entertaining. Kinda cool both are on the show.

Is George Bryan the guy that does the shoulder shake while watching his shots fall?  If so he is 100% genuinely awesome.

So you didn't enjoy a roped 2 iron to 250 yards within 14 inches of the chalk line target?  That shot made the show for me in itself.

Yeah, that was a great shot. The skull-topped 5-iron that won the 190 yd challenge, not so much....

Brandon seems like this seasons front runner to fill the Mary/Anthony bad guy role. But overall I agree with Randall that the competition at first glance looks solid. I think we might actually see some good golf this time around! It's also nice to see them on a course where we recognize many of the holes.

If I have to listen to Brandons mouth one more week I am done. He is yelling to make sure the judges pull the measuring tape tight? Pffftttt I will not watch another Anthony that all act like Richard Sherman. I feel there is no place in golf for that crap.

So far, more of a Don Donatelllo but with a little more skill and a really annoying voice.

time will tell if this is entertaining or annoying

I agree, Brandon self admittedly has a chip on his shoulder and doesn't care who doesn't like him.  I don't think he'll be as antagonistic as Anthony but he's already putting a target on his back.  Based on the challenges we saw week 1 I'd also agree the talent pool is a bit deeper than previous seasons.

I'm not sure I like the mulligan concept, the show doesn't need any additional gimmicks imo, just play golf.

Yeah, he seems way more personable and friendly than Anthony or Mary, but like @Ollie said - the yelling at the judges to pull the tape tight was, I don't know, off-putting, I guess.  He seems to be the closest thing to a villian, but not at all (yet) Anthony like.

Another thing that stood out to me (maybe I was reading something that wasn't there, though) is that it appeared that Zach was a giant (relatively, mind you) bundle of nerves.  He doesn't necessarily look like he has less talent than the rest, but he does look like someone who's got to get that under control or he's going home early.

And I agree about the gimmicks.  Certainly they should continue to try and mix up the challenges somewhat so it's not exactly the same every season - but there is no need for the mulligans and such.

Pretty good episode to me. Here were my thoughts:

1. They were pretty darned amazing at the glass break (except Brandon). Very impressive.

2. Most seem to know each other. Justin said he already knew at least half of them. They likely know a lot about each other already and it's pretty good camaraderie overall. They all seem onto Brandon- quite a few comments about "what a trip" he is.  Overall, some classy guys. I liked both Kyle and Zach in the elimination challenge. Both composed and quality competitors. Should be a competitive season.

Thought I'd do a scoreboard for each episode. You get points for various things (and subtracted for some things). I deducted points for Brandon's horrible glass break, George's "win" with a topped 5-iron, and Kyle's pulled drive left (those things stick in the mind that a player has a weakness). Two points off for the ways Brandon was setting himself up as an outcast.  For impressive challenges, Brandon got one back for his 2-iron on the line, Chad hit the line with an iron. There were tons of good glass challenges, so they don't stand out!

Winner by points is: 7 tied at 2points

Loser by points is: Kyle at -1.5, then Brandon -1.

Might be fun to keep a tally as the season goes.

Total First Immunity Later Immunity Really IMPRESSIVE Challenge Really BAD Challenge Douchebaggery Slid by without being picked Guaranteed Elimination Round Survived Elimination
PTS 2 1 1 -1 -1 0.75 -1 0.5
Brandon -1 0 1 1 1 2
Chad 2 0 1 1
Clay 2 1
George 0 0 1 1
Justin 2 1
Kyle -1.5 0 1 1 1
Richy 2 1
Robert 2 1
Tommy 2 1
Tyler 0.75 0 1
Wesley 2 1
Zach 0.5 0 1

Love seeing the vet who hasn't demonstrated any weaknesses thus far show up the two weakest players of this year's show.

Going to be interesting to see how this week's episode plays out and if he gets picked for another elimination.
