As Jordan kept marching on today, it became more and more apparent that he was in the midst of a pretty historic dominant performance for the first two rounds.

The pesky Charley Hoffman might make things interesting, but I feel like the excitement might be done with already. Anyone else?

If Jordan loses this, it would be a massive disappointment. Would be tough to watch even. None of us like watching a good guy collapse (most of us would agree Jordan is a pretty good guy, I'd hazard to guess).  So what else is left to watch for the week? Someone making a miracle charge and out-dueling Jordan?

Charley could do that, but he has always felt like a second tier player, whereas Jordan is apparently on the rise to stardom. Something seems less than thrilling about Charley Hoffman winning this, but he could certainly add some drama.

Ernie Els could charge, but Jordan would have to come back to the field a bit, I would think.

Maybe someone who finishes late today could make a huge run and get near -10 to make this interesting.

The number of possibilities is narrowing, and I'm not sure any outcome other than Jordan winning will be satisfying.

Not surprised at all to see DJ playing well. He and Spieth were my two bets this week. With the par-5s on the back, he could creep up there a little more.

I am. He always sucks at Augusta.

So Sergio will post -2 alongside Tiger. The two of them just may end up playing together tomorrow. About a 50 percent chance of that happening.

I have to be honest, ESPN's coverage is utter garbage IMO

I switched to ESPN when they came on.  Listened for 30 mins and changed it back to the online stream from masters.com

I see this going one of two ways for Spieth:

Continues his hot play and shoots a 18/19 under and wins easily.

Or

Blows up and shots high 70s the next two days.

If someone makes a run today and makes it competitive, and Speith doesn't win, I'll be satisfied because I'll  more than likely have seen some good golf this weekend.

Seems like the standard CBS schmaltzy Masters coverage team to me. Nantz, Faldo, et al plus Rinaldi interviews (minus Oosterhuis, who retired, and Feherty, who is sick). Not much with an ESPN stamp to me.

I'm not saying it's great, but it's really the same thing we've come to expect.

What is worse than usual in the coverage?

Its worse because they dont actually show golf.  They talk the whole time.

Watching a featured group you see the whole course.

Why isn't ESPN showing Rory & Phil at all? This is weird.

Wow, kudos for JD!   And ChrisP (I think) who posted earlier that JD is about to break out.  Now the question is, what happens when someone "breaks out?"   Does he win at 30% of all his tournaments?   Does he achieve Tiger slam at least?   It'd be exciting to track his progress.

But I am hoping and rooting for Hoffman to track JD down for a win for old timers (as I am) sake.

Yah, it's decent as a supplement to the action, but it's definitely not where to go for the action. Interesting to hear from Jordan and Tiger though. Was that a dig from Tiger? "Or Augusta could leave conditions as is for the weekend, and just make this a shootout."

I'm streaming on the laptop while listening to the interviews. Nice to have options.

I think McIlroy really should have played a week ago or the week before. His game still wasn't sharp after Bay Hill. You look at Jordan and he played two weeks both coming in and got some nice momentum and confidence for this week.

Because they arent allowed to show the front nine at Augusta...

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
