It would be the same margin of error that's inherent in any measurement taken with that particular GPS system. The GG has no idea where the pin is, but it does know where the centre of the green is +/- whatever that margin of error is.

You set where the pin is. It doesn't matter what the end target is that the measurement is from. All I'm saying is, if their GPS system can't tell if I'm hitting a 5' putt or a 12' putt, how would it know if I'm 5' from the center of the green or 12'? It still as accurate (or inaccurate) in both instances, yet they implement distance from the target for approach shots but not for measurements for putting stats.

My only big gripe with game golf now is that it doesn't remember the tees after I input them. I have to re enter the slope and rating every time I post a round to game golf.

I have to enter what tee I played from but the course rating information is already listed beside each color.  The only one that is not listed is a par 3 course and I have already sent a request in to have the par rating entered.  I have know idea about the rating of it.  I think if you send a picture of the scorecard from your course they can have the information entered and it will always show when you select what tee you played from that day.  They are really quick with the replies and fixing things so it is worth a shot.

If you 2 putt or more, the system snaps the pin within 2 feet of your 2nd or 3rd putt.  If you 1-putt we place the pin in the middle of the green by default at which you can move (drag and drop) the location of the pin.

We’ve recently stopped using the course rating and slope for handicap calculations as we’ve created our own handicap system that can be used from GAME GOLF users worldwide – as not every country uses slope and rating as the US does. The only thing we’d need to change for your course would be the par for each hole if they are wrong (i.e. we are doing away with teebox selection so there's no need to add it). Full info on how we calculate handicaps can be found at https://gamegolf.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1929900-handicap-everything-to-know?b_id=7220

Just a heads up, almost every question I have seen in this thread over the last couple pages can be found in our support center at http://www.gamegolfsupport.com/    where you can type in your question and an answer will appear.

It is using where the pin snaps to on the second putt or where you place the pin for one putts.  If you need to move a shot, you can quickly do so during round editing.

I have courses that are available on the app that aren't available on the unit. What's up with that?

@iacas, did you ever find a relatively easy way of making shot zones using the Game Golf data? I like the insights section, but can't really see an easy way of turning it into a shot zone, unless I'm missing something?

(Sorry if you've posted this elsewhere, but I couldn't find it using the search function)

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

@GAME Golf Any idea when the new smart grips will be available? I need to re-grip my clubs but really wanted to wait for these to be out, I though they would be out by now =(

We haven't specifically yet, but if you look at your scatter plot, it's not too difficult.

For example, my 4I comes up a bit short and left, so I'm trying to hit them a bit longer and a bit right.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
