@No Mulligans lamented that there appear to be no Aimpoint instructors in our area, so that means if we want to learn it, we have to trek somewhere.  Or, if we could gather up enough interested folks, we might be able to bring the instruction to us.  There is precedent. @iacas and @david_wedzik taught a clinic in San Diego back in the fall of 2012 (where I learned midpoint) and @iacas & @mvmac taught another (midpoint) clinic sometime in 2013 somewhere in the Inland Empire.

There are at least a few of us that would like to now learn Aimpoint Express, and I've learned that if we can get between 12 and 20 interested, they'd be willing to come teach us (if we can find a location - more on that later)

So, this thread is just to gauge how many of us are seriously interested in learning AE this summer, and if there are a lot of us, we'll take the next step of choosing a date and finding a location.  (The location might be tricky as many courses have strict rules on who can teach there.  Anybody who belongs to a club might have the best opportunity to host the class there)

I'm just going to tag as many people as I think MIGHT be even remotely interested here (off the top of my head - apologies if I forget anybody):

@No Mulligans

@Golfingdad

@Shindig

@mvmac

@tristanhilton85

@Bechambo

@Big C

@mdl

@SoundandFury

@jefkve

@bplewis24

@bmartin461

@Beachcomber

@k-troop

Post in here if you're interested.  Regardless of whether or not I remembered to tag you. ;)

Unlikely (you can do the math, and look up costs of plane tickets, etc.) that both @david_wedzik and I would both be able to attend, but I certainly could.

The best option is to find a good "host pro" willing to do this, though. Let's start there.

What levels would be offered? I just finished express, but I am hungry for more. Interested ... but a haul for me.

FYI, Bob Townsend in San Diego is an Aimpoint instructor.

And I recommend good instructors whenever possible, as traveling rarely works out. But we will not be getting into this one.

How about as a second option, trying to get a school together with Craig Farnsworth in La Quinta?

I'd be up for this.  Perhaps we can make a day out of it?  A round of golf at La Quinta or PGA West either followed or preceded by an Aimpoint clinic?

Perhaps we make it a bit of a joint venture with a Summer Socal Outing??  Just like we did with @mvmac and @iacas when we played Tukwet Canyon awhile back.

Heat in Palm Springs in summer = reasonably priced golf at really nice courses. :-P

He leaves the valley after May.

Sounds like we'll have at least a foursome for the summer rounds, then, between you, me, and the two year-round residents.
He leaves the valley after May.
Permanently, or will he return in the Fall?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
