If Rory can continue playing this way into the summer, he's got a great chance of picking off at least one major, maybe more. The three courses really suit him, in particular St. Andrew's which he destroyed for 3 days in 2010. He almost won at Whistling Straits in 2010 as well. So it wouldn't surprise me to see him have a big summer.

He's got to get his putting up to stuff. He's still only a average putter on the PGA Tour. His ball striking looks really solid right now. Yea, this year looks promising for the Irishman.

Agreed. If Rory was even 75% the putter Tiger was it's almost terrifying to think how good he'd be.

It's not that he's putting bad, he's just in a bit of a slump. I know the feeling where you feel like you're hitting good putts but they just keep grazing the hole. Bad putting is when you're missing the 4-5 footers for par a lot, but he's been making those pretty consistently. Tee to green, though, he's playing incredible.

He keeps making pars and beating up on the par-5s the way he has, he's in good shape for all 3 major venues which give advantage towards a player like that.

Imagine if he putted as well as he did last year. He would shoot 0.373 strokes better a round. Over a tournament that is 1.2 strokes. That could mean making a playoff or beating someone.

He's been an average putter except for last year.

At the end of the first hour of broadcast yesterday, there was no audio from the commentators for about 5 minutes.  Just the sounds of the game. :-)

It was awesome.

Then at the top of the hour, they started yapping again.

Imagine if you combined his tee to green game with Jordan Spieth's putting. Then you would have a player who would never lose a golf tournament.

I still think if Rory is on his game this game and the wind isn't out of control, you could see a Tiger-like beatdown at St. Andrew's. Take away that 80 and replace it with a 70 in 2010, and he wins the Open by a couple shots.

After read Speith's GD article on putting I'm shocked he makes any putts at all. The only explanation I can come up with is he has trained his brain to over-read the break the exact amount necessary to counteract the fact that he aims directly at the apex of the break.

Whatever he's doing is working. It's like Jim Furyk...you wouldn't think with that swing he could compete, but he always does.

But I think Rory is really close to exploding. When you continually graze birdies putts over and over, eventually they start to fall. And when they start to fall and he keeps playing tee to green like this, watch out. Best thing he's doing is playing every week. If he would have played consistently like this before Augusta, I think he would have gotten off to a better start in that major. Speaking of playing every week, if Rory can do it, why can't Tiger?

He's making a bunch of six-footers, but really he's just crushing it through the green. Nice solid 3-wood to the middle of a 4-par green. Mickelson just left it short in the last group...with driver.

From Torres9:
Not the best performances at the Honda. But he's got supreme talent and will rise after being humbled and cut.

10 inder after 15 in round 3.

Amazing that he can bounce back after being "humbled". I thought it would take years. Winning the Matchplay event must have helped him overcome this horrendous humiliation

Kinda helps when every putt is inside of 25 feet ;)

Yes he is putting much better.

His strokes gained putting today is 1.62. That is absurdly good. Luke Donald's best when he lead the tour was mid 0.8's. Yes, he's putting out of his mind right how.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
