I think St. Andrews is a nice track and has a lot of history obviously but I am not sure how I feel about the competitors that are 7 strokes out of the lead getting a seemingly typical, docile golf course making up strokes while the leaders get more severe wind conditions for their round, battling to maintain par. Watching now.... amateur has 6 birdies on the front 9 another relatively no body has birdied the first 4 holes...

Wind is not supposed to change for rest of the day.

edit. perhaps it will change... forecasting the future is vague.

Perhaps using VPN service and "relocate" you into UK...

ps. BBC broadcast in UK (and rest of the world) starts at 13:45, which is in about 1h15min from now.

Espn feed is up now

The Open app isn't streaming anything now. I was watching ESPN ESPN (ESPN actual) at 6. But there's a Spanish feed. Watching that now. No commercials so far.

Looks like it picks up 5-6 mph from 1-5 pm

Hey boss, I got this stomach thing, cough cough, won't be able to make it in today. Sorry.

£10, very reasonable.

Mickelson just sent his tee shot on a balcony at 17. Scott Van Pelt: "That's a tough lie".

There's 4 amateurs in the top 10...

Good call. There are also 23 players in the top 10!

Edit: And how often do you have to actually win the tournament to be the low amateur?

Mickelson just dropped from #5 to #32 with his balcony shot on 17th. One slip and down the leaderboard you go.

Yeah and Schniederjans is making a mess of 17, will cost him a birth in next years open likely.

Anyone notice the 2-man booth Golf Channel is using in St Andrews this week? BC and Nobilo are rotating with Lerner. I wonder if there's a space constraint or if there's some friction between Nobilo and BC. I always sort of got the impression Frank doesn't care much for Brandel.

I noticed this too. I am almost positive they've done this in past years, too, so it has to be a space issue in the booth.

Sergio's off. I think he's a good dark horse pick today. It seems he's let go of the baggage that's kept him from winning one of these things; this feels like it could be the day.

Dustin Johnson is really a mess. All the way down to -4. Fowler struggling today too. For the first time since the Pinehurst U.S. Open, I won't be cashing a ticket this week. The streak is over :(

Duval having a good day again, -3 thru 12. Good for him.

If he could do this more than once every three years or so, he wouldn't have to take a TV job.

The weather just made a turn in the last ten minutes or so. If Donald can make it to the clubhouse at 10-under, it may be a while before someone tops it.

    • At address, I started to lean the shaft of my irons forward.  This immediately resulted in better compression and more distance (add some 10-15 yards on each iron). Feels great, feels like I'm make better contact.  But I'm also pulling it, it's going dead left.  When I examined my club face at address, with the shaft leaned forward, I can see that it's closed, so it makes sense that I'm pulling it.   So it seems that leaning the shaft forward at address inadvertently closes the face.  Is this true?  If so, and if you insist on leaning the shaft forward like this, can/should you just correct by also opening the face a little at address?
    • Rahm agrees to a deal with the DP World Tour.  Jon Rahm Agrees Deal With DP World Tour In Breakthrough Over Ryder Cup Future | Golf Monthly The LIV Golfer has been given a conditional release by the DP World Tour to play in conflicting tournaments on the circuit for the remainder of the season Currently, he is under contract with LIV. This seems like a move by him to secure the Ryder Cup spot, and hedge if LIV dies.
    • Some dtl and fo normal and slowmo shots from today with a whiffle ball in the back yard. Trying not to overbend right elbow and it seems to have my arm lifting more too.
    • Yeah.. for golfers like this Hick's law is real and a b**ch. Induces paralysis that hits crescendo causing a freeze every time they 'gather up' to pull the trigger. There's cognitive therapy if it's bad enough.
    • At some point, the golfer is going to have to retrain their timing. When I exaggerate the right elbow stuff, I find myself at the P4 being like, "Uhhh, when does the downswing start." I am just hanging out at P4 for eternity because my backswing is usually like half a second longer. Half a second in the backswing feels like forever. Your tempo might be like 5:1 not 3:1. A 3:1 tempo is going to be very quick. It might be you need to speed up the backswing.
