Yesssss!!!!

Only about an hour out for me, so probably no need for a hotel...but I should be good to go both days...checking the schedule, nothing on it now...

Definitely in...may not make it to the range/lessons portion, but planning on arriving before the one-club scramble. Trying not to burn any more PTO...have used an ungodly amount in the past 2 months.

@Rob Thompson will share the hotel details available to everyone, but the golf and practice sessions and all of that will come to around $70 to $80. So even if you stay in a hotel, not counting your food, you're well under $150 for the two days (assuming you share a room with someone).

C'mon, folks. This is barely a month away - sign up if you can attend.

Hopefully I'll have something resembling an actual golf swing by then.

I don't plan on it. I haven't practiced at all this year. 0 minutes at the range, 0 minutes into my practice net lol. And I've only played 5 or 6 rounds...been a busy, hectic summer.

I tend to think I have a pretty good handle on my swing and when I get to these things you'd swear I'm actually double whatever my current handicap states.... I have far fewer rounds and practice in this year than any previous year so I'm going into this one with no illusions of improving on my previous efforts.

Wish I had that excuse. I've played a bunch of really crappy golf. The wheels have come off the rickety bus over the past month or two. For the next few weeks it will be more practice with a plan and less playing. Started trying to get stuff sorted last night and found some contact that I didn't have on the weekend.

Hotels are going to be $109.22 after tax.  That is for a two bed room here in Norwalk.  The hotel is the Best Western.  It was recently remodeled.  The phone # is 419-663-3501 . I will have the block name as The Sand Trap.    Wait until tomorrow to call though.  My POC was out of the office until tomorrow morning.

That's actually not bad at all...may be worth staying there.

Thanks!  I will probably stay at the Hampton Inn in Sandusky (about 10 miles away) - seems like that is the closest Hilton property.  I travel so much for work (2/3 hotel nights per week) that it is in my best interest to be a w***e for Hilton points.

Any good "social" reason not to stay at a different hotel (ie, late-night pitching technique contests in the asphalt parking lot)?

I don't know about Steel Reserve, but I have a gallon of apple pie moonshine just sitting on the counter :-)

If it's the special type made right there in Lima it might work. Make sure everyone with a handicap better than 18 gets plenty.

    • I have trouble with vertigo on occasion, but have gotten nutritional and biofeedback tips to keep it at bay. Dehydration can help trigger v-like symptoms so one recommendation, along with maintaining overall hydration, is to start with 8 oz. of water early in the morning. A meta-analysis on Golf As Physical Activity indicated that golf is rated as a moderately intensive physical activity. This scientific literature review came from the University of Edinburgh. The physical activity level ties into hydration. A former university colleague was a marathon runner who had published a couple of articles on endurance training. He likewise said that golf was a moderate physical activity especially when the round stretched past  the two-hour mark. For hydration he recommended switching from water to electrolyte drink on the back nine (past two hour point of exercise) to prevent cramping. At the two-hour point of moderate activity, water starts flushing electrolytes out of the body, which can lead to fatigue and cramping. (I have had trouble with leg cramps in the past during exertion.) During a round, I start out with water on the front nine and switch to sports drink on the back nine. If the day is unusually hot, I may drink 8 oz. of Pedialite concentrate before going to the course. Maintaining overall hydration plus on-course boosters keeps me going.
    • Personally I’d try booking direct first - either via the Vidanta golf reservations number/email or through the resort concierge - especially for Christmas/New Year. Vidanta’s main courses (Greg Norman and Nicklaus designs) are popular and can book out fast this time of year, so direct often gives you the best shot at your preferred tee times.
