The rules are the same as the last few months:

  • Post every day during the month above. No back-dating or pre-dating posts or practice sessions.
  • Detail what you did for at least five minutes of practice (indoors or out, with or without golf balls, etc.). Some of you have been slacking on this - give details.
  • At the end of the month, everyone who has posted every day will earn a special badge they can proudly display throughout the following month, at which time a new challenge for that month will begin.

Enjoy and practice hard!

I have a very busy August coming up so probably not the best time but I find I'm productive under pressure.

Let's see how far I get....

Today I went to the range.  I hit ten balls with my feet together with my sand wedge to warm up.  I proceed to hit 5 shots of practice, then 1 normal shot.  I was working on stopping my back swing once my shoulders hit 90 degrees.

36 putts, 2 sleeves 6 times, putting to a quarter 10' away on an indoor carpet. I have three goals in mind. Roll over a spot 2" in front of the ball; roll the balls just over 10' and the same distance; and hit some portion of the quarter. Mid you can hit 6 in any one series, that is really good!

Spent 5 minutes in front of the mirror at my job working on rotating in my backswing

Posted
Spent my time outside, hitting small objects of my mat, making full swings focused on key 1 and 2. I think I am seeing some improvement in this area lately.

Spent time working on SK #2 at the office. There is a spot on the carpet that represents the ball. I think I am getting it but that will be proven at the range in the next

couple days.

worked on posture, and then taking it back to A2 with my hands coming in and the club ending up being parallel to the target line.. Rinse and repeat for 5-10 minutes.

Hit balls at the range today, did a drill where I placed a club cover outside the ball to assist in achieving an in to out swing path.

Hi am in... Today I worked on chipping in the yard. I have broken ribs and can not do a full swing. I worked on form, keeping weight forward and keeping my hands soft. Any suggestions on threads to find drills to work on throughout the month?

Well,I practiced every day of last month and it's starting to come together. Shot a 2 over par back 9 after a terrible front 9. As for my 5 minutes, I chipped and putted before the round working on chipping it within 8 feet and making 5 foot putts. Definitely helped during the round. How's that for a slack update?

Outside, no ball.  Driver swings.  Start slow, half swings.  Stay connected, no left elbow chicken wing.  Keep head still, hip slide/turn.  Increase speed, no tension.  Feel the speed through the contact zone.  Same with 5h and 3w.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
