Spent about 15 minutes (and a dozen or so range balls) on 50-60 yard pitches before my round this morning. I had 2-3 good pitches of that distance during today's round, but didn't convert any of the resulting putts (but I did hit the green 3/3 from that distance, so that's nice).

Driver swings outside over grass, no ball.  Slow at first, half swings.  No tension, feel the club release fully.  Then full swings.  Keep head still, no tension, fast not hard, smooth tempo.

Went to range today ... hit too many balls ... first part of large large bucket went really well ... then I got hot and tired ... my mistake and lesson learned. Focused on key 1 and 2 ... again really happy with first When I got tired, I just focused on 1/2 swings and making to good contact with ... thought process was pitching up on a green.

8/16/15: Played my usual 27 holes today (In 3 hours and 45 minutes, I might add)... Today I was practicing strategy... I found out I can hit a dead straight drive on 4 about 250 right into the hazard... (I managed a bogey with a hazard ball), I missed a 3 foot putt... Made a 35 foot putt, nearly holed a wedge out for eagle at 9... It was a weird day... I didn't even keep score the last 18 to be honest...

Indoor swings.  8i.  Worked on slow hip to hip swings.  No tension, feel the club releasing.  Brush the carpet and keep the head still.  I keep working on this over and over and it seems to be paying off.  Broke 90 for the first time, 85 at the Emerald course on Maui last Monday.

My warm up today was first some 50-60 yard pitches and then some full swings, focusing on going slow -- I felt I got fast yesterday. Did it work? Shot an 88, including a birdie at the #2 handicap hole. 4 GIR + 5 near-GIR and only four bad holes (but one was *really* bad). Now that the club championship is over, my practice time can be spent on longer term improvements instead of just what I need that day. No more tournament rounds for almost two weeks.

Went to the driving range and it was closed again. I didn't even notice that they have done this almost every Monday.

Hit balls at the range today, did a drill where I placed a club cover outside the ball to assist in achieving an in to out swing path.

you have any more info about this drill?

I think it's a safer variation of Jim Flick's old board drill... 8/17/15 After a terrible day on the forking greens yesterday, I putted for 30 minutes today, focusing on following the ball with my eyes and not my head...

Spent time mapping swing in the living room. Concentrating on my priority pieces. Proper back swing hip sequencing and and weight transfer on down swing.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
