What'd You Shoot Today?

I played 27 yesterday. First 18 shot an 85. Played ok, getting used to new driver and sometimes just making horrid swings. hit 5 of 14 FW, 4 Greens, not sure of exactly how many putts. Overall, not that unhappy with my play. Hitting these big wild pushes with the driver.

Other 9 shot a 42. Went birdie for bogie, made a birdie, hit 2 greens, 12 putts, 2 doubles.

Seeing improvement finally. Feeling more comfortable. Hit a couple of drives I really likes. Hit a some really good iron shots.

Had a good day. Score bad but good day.

I played this weekend in a tourney here in town and shot pretty well on Saturday, shot 75. It was mostly due to getting it up and down and saving par all day. Then blew up Sunday morning on the front 9 and shot 48, then recovered with a 38 on the back. So disappointed in myself! I had a chance to win the thing and just fell apart.

I was angry about it and went out and played another 18 right after the round on Sunday and shot a 75 with feeling like I was just playing average. I used to never let the nerves get to me when I was younger but I was also playing a lot more competitive rounds then I do now. I guess I just need to enter more stroke play events that I have to count every shot. The scrambles have made me soft I think.

I will be out there again practicing tonight, trying to get back on that horse though.

First post here. Shot 88 today, not too bad considering i had three sevens. Thanks to the drought in New England i have been getting 20 extra yards in roll off the tee. Two three putts set me off toward the bad round.

Played two rounds on Saturday, shot an 87 (44 & 43) the first round and an 83 (43 & 40) the second round. Was disappointed with the 87 as I was +6 after 3, but calmed down and played well the rest of the round. Shot my lowest back nine the second round, and am so close to breaking into the 70's, got my wedges and putter in the trunk, just need some fine tuning around the greens.

Well finally broke 80 with a 79, 39 out and 40 in. Not bad. I used my 4 iron as my driver all day and worked the fade on my home course since a fade is needed on most of the holes there. Not any holes where a driver is needed. I did tee up one 3-wood and pulled it rite to the edge of the OB line so it went back in the bag for the day. Short game was on and the putter saved me a few strokes.

    • 60* wedge.  I like clean grooves on my 50* and 60* but could care less about the grooves on my 56*.
    • New clubs came in this morning and I happened to be working in the area so I picked them up. PING G430 Max 3W (-1.5°) with PING Tour 2.0 Black 75, X-Stiff at -1/2" PING G430 3H with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 85, X-Stiff Those replace my old fairway wood and hybrid, making all 14 clubs in my bag fitted. I'm going to need new excuses for bad shots 😜
    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.
    • Re: your graphic, ‘ I expected a little more from a varsity letterman.’ Lol…just another one for @boogielicious
    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
