2nd game back into my season, lost 2 and 1 to an 11 handicapper. I struck it the best I ever have. Looking forward to this week.
EDIT: It was a course I've never played at before too!

Shot an embarrasing 107 yesterday. It was my first tournament but that's no excuse. Hit four balls out of bounds(all on the front nine). Now I'm down 11 strokes after one week(three to go).

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

33 (-3) last night on a cool, windy evening. Not my best score but probably the best overall 9 holes I have ever played.

Hole 1 - Uphill 380 yard par 4
Pushed my drive into right rough, 9 iron ballooned into the wind, chip from ditch in front to green to 5 feet, 1 putt par

Hole 2 - Dogleg left 370 yard par 4
Perfect 3 wood center of fairway, 56* to 15 feet, disappointing 3 putt bogie

Hole 3 - Straight 415 par 4
Perfect drive into crosswind to the 150 marker, 9 iron to 20 feet on the front of green, 2 putt par

Hole 4 - Short & tricky 320 par 4
Perfect hybrid to 90 yards, 60* to 12 feet, 2 putt par

Hole 5 - 160 heavily bunkered par 3
8 iron to 8 feet, 1 putt birdie

Hole 6 - Easiest hole on course, downwind 475 yard par 5
Flushest drive of the day to 175 yards, 7 iron approach to greenside bunker, bunker shot to 2 feet, 1 putt birdie

Hole 7 - 175 par 3 into the wind
6 iron to 15 feet, lipped out for birdie, 2 putt par

Hole 8 - Toughest 440 par 4 around into the wind
Perfect drive to 182, uphill and into the wind 5 iron to 3 feet, 1 putt birdie

Hole 9 - Slight dogleg right 500 yard par 5 into the wind
Perfect drive to 210 yards, 4 iron pin high left rough, flop shot over bunker to 6 feet, 1 putt birdie

Other then not taking enough club on #1's approach and a dumb 3 putt from 15 feet it was as solid as I have played in years. I've shot 33 several times and 32 once but overall this round was superior in every category.

I've never broken 100, but if I had played 18 instead of 9 holes yesterday I would have. Total fluke probably but I shot 44 on the front!

Shot an 89 today, just like last week
ZERO birdies, 6 pars, 6 bogeys, 6 doubles
10 fairways, only 3 greens in reg, 34 putts
6005 yards/69.2 rating/120 slope - course was wet, 58 degrees, misting all day - short course, target golf
Other than one hole, drove the ball solid all day, very happy off the tee
Chipping was excellent, putting was dismal - between the sand on the green and wet conditions, could not get the ball to the hole - missed SIX putts of varying distance 1 inch short of the hole
Iron shots were decent, missed many greens just short, left, or right by only a few feet
Cold, wet, but no standing water....just saturated
Best drive - 5th tee, into the wind and mist, 260 yards
Best iron - 3 iron off the tee, 200+ yard par 3, just short of the green but perfect strike
Best putt - made only 1 putt all day, 10 footer for bogey, it was ugly on the greens

I missed so many putts, but hit the ball fairly well - this could have easily been a good day in the low 80's

Played nine with my 9 yr old son yesterday. Man, he's getting good. It's fun to watch.

Anyway, I was +2 through 6 and then took two doubles.... Chunked a chip on one hole and three jacked another. Shot 41.

I did get birdie on a long downhill par 3 though (about 180 yds). Hit a nice easy 5-wood to about 8 feet and made the putt. Second bird of the year! And yes, a 180 yrd par 3 is long in my book......

97. Had an up and down round, started really good, the middle I lost my swing save for my driver and putter, and found it on #13, a 170 yard par 3. Too little too late as the middle round was nothing but hosel rockets giving me double and triple bogeys for 6 holes. Ah well.

Finally a decent round! Got to play the splendid Valencia CC today. The Champions Tour used to hold the AT&T; Classic there. Stopped playing there this season. And it held the Nissan LA Open when Riviera was holding the PGA Championship back in the 90s. There was some filming on the golf course so we did have to skip holes 13 and 14. So through 16 holes I was 1-under. One wayward tee shot and one 3-putt, but, other than that, some really solid golf shots and rolled in a few nice putts too. Two birdies on the front, one birdie on the back. I have been playing some mediocre golf lately, so this is a nice boost to my golf ego. I've got a two-day tournament coming up starting Wednesday. And playing with a girl I'm trying to hook up with on Tuesday and Friday, one day at a Second Stage Q-School track. Gotta play good in front of her. hahaaa. Anyway, yay golf!

Fun side note. I had my '90 Hogan Apex Grinds in the bag. Callaway is really slippin' on my conforming groove irons, so I'm preparing for the worst come US Open qualifying. If it comes to it, I'll be playing these.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
