Got out for the first time since October. Played Glenross in Delaware Ohio which is becoming "home" for now because it's local. Shook off the rust while carding 56 on the front from the blues area, they didn't have markers out. Came in @ 46 which easily should have been lower if not for the snow runoff packed sand traps. Overall, I can see promise for this spring. Driver isn't grooves in, but hit the irons great.

GIR says it all about what was wrong with my day.  Tee shots were a little bad, most missed fairways weren't bad.  Putting was decent, chipping was great, bunker play was great.  Approach shots were absolutely dreadful.  Had plenty of opportunities to hit more GIR, but just couldn't do it.  Most times I would hit it half way to the hole.  I will chalk it up to the time change and losing an hour of sleep.

I played in a Golfweek Amateur tournament Saturday. Shot 74 and won my flight (A). 12 pars, 4 bogeys, 2 birdies. Stats were 9 fairways, 12 greens, 34 putts. Two of the missed greens were on the fringe just missing the edge. For the 6 missed greens, I was able to get up and down 4 times for par. Career competitive round for me. Practice is paying off.

Shot 86 at Heidelberg Country Club. First round of the season for me, so I'm okay with it. A lot of straight pulls though leading to quite a few missed fairways and even an OB.

FINALLY. I am able to contribute again to this thread. First round of the 2013 season for me.

44-39-83

I was even par 8 through 16. Very disappointing bogie, double bogie finish. And no, I wasn't massaging my handicap. We don't post until April 1.

Shot a very satisfying 77 over the weekend. 9/14 fairways (although 2 were with a 3i), 11 GIR but only one birdie putt went down. It's nice to have the driver feel comfortable in my hands again. I'm striping it and added ~20yds back to my distance, and all just by slowing it down and hitting it easy.

Very satisfying 99, first time broke a 100, went out in 46 and back in 53 made a few stupid mistakes else would have been lower. But oh well no lost balls 3 pars happy today :) Edit 39 putts today which was bad and chipping wasnt as i would have liked

41-42= 83 with about 32 putts and only 5 GIR.  I had several 5-6 foot putts that I normally miss to save pars. I had one 3-putt and five 1-putt greens. Good lag putting/distance control. Couple of nice sand shots with one save (might be worst part of my game).  Score should have been much worse.  Haven't really been practicing as much as I should, playing a lot of tennis instead. Partners might be the worlds' worse golfers - I don't think that helped me. By the last three holes, was ready to get off the course. Long round. Those are my excuses, and I'm sticking to them.......

Anyone tell me what their goal for putts/round is for a 9-10 HCPer?

Shot an all time best 85 yesterday!  I'm normally in the low 100's and have only shot in the 90's 3 times, but yesterday it all came together for me.  Only hit into the rough twice and was able to hit a "stinger" out into the fairway to setup for a good approach shot.....some of my approaches were still short of the green by 10-20 yards so I had to chip again onto the green, but once on the green I only "2 putted" most of the time.  I actually made 4 pars as well.

I think the biggest factor was that my daughter was playing with us for the first time, so I mainly concentrated on getting her all setup, showing her how to swing, etc. so I didn't focus on my score at all during the round.  It was only at the very end that I saw I made a few pars and only had two "7"'s on my scorecard.

Played a full 18 holes today for the first time(usually play short rounds), shot a 125.

Not bad for my first full round, but I could have done better. I know what I need to work on though.

Easy course, rated 65.5. 5,000 yards (score card is meters) but for some reason they always set some of the tees forward which annoys me greatly as it's already a overly short track.

A strange round. I drove the ball well but with the tees set up as they were there were only four opportunities to hit driver. I got up and down for birdie on the only par 5 and two drivable par 4s, but pretty much failed to get up and down for par when I missed the GIR.

But 5 birdies is my best ever. And I had really makable birdie chances on 16 & 18 too.

Shot 45 on the winter course (par 36). Two doubles ruined my chances of doing better than bogey. Overall I cannot complain with even bogey at my level though.

Cannot wait for the other courses to start opening around here!

5 FIRS

1 GIR

40 putts (2x1 putt, 10x 2 putt, 6x3 putts)

Ball stricking getting much better...just need to sort out the consistency and start hitting a lot more GIRS and so that I have a realistic chance at increasing my number of 1 putts and getting under 100 for the first time! :)

I was completely lost on the front 9.  Finally got things together on the back....hit some Fairways and some Greens.  Now if I could only get that putter working....41 putts is unacceptable.

Same old story today.  Can't hit my approach shots to save my life.  The 3-putt on 18 didn't bother me too much.  It was like a 100 foot putt for birdie, decent lag, the par putt barely lipped out.  Need to figure out my woods and long irons, because everything else is working.  The good news is that I parred hole #3 for the first time ever.  440+ yard par 4 into the wind, hit 3W-3W to be just about a foot off the green.

    • That makes more sense thanks.  I'll give it a go.  That other video really helps.  Will post another video once I practice it a bit and appreciate the help as always.
    • Day 25: range and putting session. Worked about an hour at the range. Filmed a bit - think some progress but need more. Then went and worked on putts within 10 feet for about 20 minutes.

    • Day 45 (22 Apr 26) - good friend wanted to play the Weds shootout. Glad we did as I had the most consistent round in a while - 38/41 for a 79 (first sub 80 in months): 27 putts, 9 pars (7 were up and down 1 putts), 8 bogies, 1 birdie and 0 dbls or worse!  This is the 1st full round where I’ve not had at least one dbl (or worse) and 0 penalties.  I also came 1 hole from having “no sixes” (bogied the par five 16th).  All the drills came together today for a solid round.
    • Day 568 - 2026-04-22 Created a 33-minute playlist and paused it while I stopped. I mostly did some backswing and a little downswing work with the mirror. This got me most of the way through the playlist, so then I chopped for a good 15 or 20 minutes.
