As a senior citizen, I tend to play courses & tees that are a bit easier than many here on TST.  I was curious as to the most difficult course I had played to date in 2015, based on rating/slope.  My "average" course is about 70.0/124.

Easiest: 64.1/115 - the local executive course.  Par 67 and just a touch over 5,000 yards.  Easiest full size course was 68.6/119

Hardest: 72.3/137 - A local private course.  Not terribly long but tight with well-bunkered and difficult greens.

Of course "easy" and "hard" on any given day are very subjective.  This is just based on the ratingslope.

Anyone else care to share?

The course I play often is a 73.3 / 130. The front nine is a monster at 36.7 / 139

The easiest course I play is 72.9/137 at 6700yds.  My home course/where I work is the hardest course at 74.8/149 at 7000yds.  I thought I had played harder courses than that, but this was rated harder apparently. I'm just used to it, I guess.

The "easiest" course I played this year although no course is easy for me was Robertshaw Acres. An executive course that is a par 70, 4,948 yards from the back tees with a slope of 110. The hardest was no doubt Totteridge, par 72, 7,154 from the back tees, course rating 75.8 with a slope of 139. Kicked my butt.

I'm curious...why, as a 20+ handicap, would you play a course that's over 7,100 yards? I'm a 3 handicap, and I wouldn't even think about playing a course that long. What would be the point? I looked at the scorecard for Totteridge, and there are 5 sets of tees. Were I to play there, I'd be looking at either the blue or the white tees, probably the white, at least the first time out.

Have you heard of the PGA/USGA's "Tee It Forward" program? I'd recommend that you check it out. Don't get me wrong, you can play from whichever set of tees you like, but you'd probably have more fun trying to hit a green with a 7-iron in your hand as opposed to a 3-wood.

I hear ya. it was a reunion with friends i haven't played with in 25 years. we always used to play from the back tees in our youth. just for fun we decided to play this monster that no one ever played before from the blacks using 8 clubs or less only. my one friend played with 4 lol. it was a great time. didn't hold any groups up. i would love to go back and play from the whites before the snow falls. there were two holes i didn't carry the hazard off the tee but yeah i shot about 30 strokes worse than normal. my big moment was leading the way at hole 1 with a beautiful drive right down the center with a right handed ladies driver i picked up the week before.i hit my drives left handed all year before that. everyone enjoyed the pink ribbons hanging off of Melody when i pulled her headcover off.  it got ugly after that. :)

Hardest I have played recently is the Koiner Course at Brookside in LA. 7,228 yards and rated 74.8/134.

Easiest I have played is Alhambra Golf Club. 5,478 yards and rated 65.6/115.

Hoping to play Riviera next May... that would be a real beast

Edit: Just checked and it's only rated 74.6/135 and 7,040 yards from the "members" tips... pros play it about 300 yards longer

I played a course a couple of weeks ago that was 73.7 / 139 at 7000 yards from the tips.  Never played the course before, didn't warm up, and the greens were FAST.  I normally hit a draw but was working on a power fade off the tee.  I was double crossing most tee shots on the front side.  Shot 53.  Went back to my draw on the back and shot 39.  I probably should have played the red tees that day.

The easiest is my home course at around 6200 / 6600 yards from the white / blue tees.  I alternate between the tees depending on who I play with.

Hardest course I've played is Spyglass Hill, which is one of the courses used in the AT&T pro-am. Par is 72, rating is 75.5, slope is 144.

Easiest? I'm not sure I can think of one that stands out in my memory. It's no problem to remember the tough ones, but the easy ones not so much.

Probably the toughest for me would be the Rockwood course outside outside of FT Worth. Just dont score well on that corse.

Easiest is the course I  am spending most of my time on now in Boulder City. I have developed some confidence in the greens there.

Easiest course would be Gambler's Ridge 68.6/116 par 71 and 6339 yards.

Gambler's Ridge was also my easiest (and tied for low round, gross, of the year).

Hardest was Eagle Creek (Norwalk, Ohio) from the back tees during the TST Outing...71.8/127.

Gambler's is a quirky little muni, especially that front nine. Dug up a scorecard and it says 6,294 but 6,339 on the website. Not that 45 yards makes much of a difference.

The hardest course I've played this year was probably the TPC Stadium course at PGA West. I'm not sure really what the easiest course is that I played this year, however.

I went up to Long Island to visit my brother, and we played Bethpage Black.  Boy was that a long, tough course.  74.0/145.  But it was also incredibly beautiful.  Just a great experience.

As far as easiest, well, my son and I regularly play several 9 hole executive courses in our area.  A good chance to work on the short game.

Easiest is my FILs club (local senior community) at 67.4/113 and the hardest is my club (Tijeras Creek) from the tips, at 73.8/136. (I usually play one box up at 71.2/130 though)

A funny experiment would be to rank all of the courses by what I perceive as the difficulty, and then compare that to the ratings.  I don't think any of them would match. :-P
