Your Washington DC course is colloquially known as Haines Point by my friends. Flat, short course- your basic no frills muni. I believe it has 3 9-hole courses, and you get slotted into two of them for your round. Or maybe one is a par 3? I forget. I'd be game to meet you there and play a round, if the timing works out.

Results of courses played

My 50-state-50-capital-city (50/50) golf trip has officially started. The first city was Phoenix Arizona, at the Raven Golf Club on 4/11/16. It was great to start playing golf again after a three year absence because of a rotator cup injury. I had a great time with the Bob, Daren and Tony. Bob and Daren, father and son, had their competition going on. Age won over youth. I started out with two pars and shot 44 on the front. The back was a different story. I started with two double bogeys and shot 56 for a total of 100 for the round.

Number 2 was Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on 4/12/16. They had a competition going, and Lopez, the oldest, shortest hitter, and most accurate won. I shot 57 on the front and 44 on the back for a total 101. Another fun day.

 

Number 3 was Trosper Golf Club in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 4/13/16. I played again with three guys that play together regularly and had their competition going. Two were retired and the other was retired military but working another job. Another great day on the course with three fun guys. This was my highest score 53 on the front and 51 on the back, 104 total. Even though it was my highest score I’m starting to play better. The par 5’s are still killing me. Golf is great and I’m really enjoying this trip and the people I’m meeting.

 

Number 4 was Morris Williams Golf Course in Austin, Texas on 04/15/2016. I played with a high school friend, Marshall, who lives in Dallas, were I’m staying this weekend. We drove down to Austin from Dallas at 4 am. From hole number 1 to hole 18 we had a rough time. Between our bad shots and 
sandy greens I shot 109 and Marshall shot 107. We moaned, groaned, complained and laughed our way around the course. I wanted to replay the front, but then decided to drive back to Dallas and go to the practice range. When you see my scores go down, you’ll know I’ve improved my short game. Saturday will be a rest day, eating homemade Texas barbeque. If it doesn’t rain I may practice my short game.

Very cool concept.  When you get to Lansing, MI, the "West" course at Forest Akers is by far the better of the two courses.  The "East" is okay, just not as interesting as the "West".

I also checked on the location.  Forest Akers is the Michigan State University set of courses. MSU is in East Lansing, a distinct and separate city.  That being said, part of the course is in Lansing and as you indicated, the mailing address is Lansing so you are good to go.

This thread title got me to thinking. I'd have to double check, but I think there's about 15+/- states I have not golfed in. Can't even begin to think about capitals. 

So my wife is looking to go on another road trip before it gets too hot, and her gardening thing kicks off. Thinking this would be a good way to finish off the "52". Probably would add some MLB games to the mix also.

There is no golf course in Trenton NJ.

The only public golf course in Annapolis has closed. Can anyone help me play at the Naval Academy?

Number 5 was Rebsamen Golf Course in Little Rock Arkansas, on 4/17/16. A good course that required fades and draws more than any other course I’ve played so far. I partnered up with Cliff, a really friendly guy, and fun to play with. It seems that we high handicap players know how to take it on the chin and keep smiling. I met some other golfers there, that were very encouraging about my trip. Much appreciated. I shot 53 on the front and 56 on the back, total 109. I’m in Memphis for the 18 and 19. Playing in Jackson, Ms on Wednesday the 20th. I’ve got to stay ahead of the rain.

They're pretty strict there about who can get on, based on an experience long ago. I wish I knew a member there that I could send you to get in touch with. Maybe you'll get lucky here and find some MD person who knows someone who knows someone. 

They do have instruction there open to the public, however, and I'd bet you could purchase some sort of "on course instruction for 18 holes." Maybe a bit pricier to pay for the pro's time for 4 hours though!

As people above have mentioned, I would think it'd be tough to find a public course in the same city as every state capital, as golf courses tend to be distributed out to the less populated areas. I think you might have to just say you'll find the closest one to the capital's center, or something, and call that a victory.

Or maybe say you'll find the nicest one within a 30 mile radius or something. Either way, it's all good, and I'm sure it'll be a blast.

What  a cool idea!  It is going to be a while before you get to my area, Helena, MT.  We have 2 public and 1 private course.  Not close to the best golf in Montana but you have some choices. I'll give you a run down on the courses when you get a little closer.

Number 6 was Lefleur’s Bluff Golf Course in Jackson Mississippi on 4/20/16. The course was a nine hole par 35, 2619 yards. I played 18 holes, 5238 yards, par 70. It was short, but narrow fairways, some balls found the unplayable bushes.There were very few players today, so I played alone. After I missed my first chip shot with my sand wedge, I just used my 6-iron to chip. The grass was very short, and that kept the big numbers off my card.I shot 40 on front, 47 on back, total 87. I left there and drove to Baton Rouge and bought some great barbecue from TJ’s. The trip is going well, I spent time with family and friends in Memphis before I went to Jackson, and that was all good.

Spider I asked one of my best friends who is a Captain in the US Public Health Service if he can get on and bring guests, he said he'd let me know.

Not sure that it matters but the Providence Golf Club which came up for Richmond is actually in North Chesterfield.  There are far better courses in the area to play than this one, looking at the courses in the area, most in Richmond are Country Clubs unfortunately.

The address of Providence is Richmond, and that's the qualifier. Specific better courses will be for another trip. Now I'm just looking to play in the 50 state capitals. I'm looking at the weather in the east and it looks like I'll be delayed by the rain at the end of April thru the beginning of May.

Which course in Boise and Salt Lake did you pick? Also, I recommend the Denver downtown city course. It's got great views of the skyline and the mountains.

It may say Richmond but it is in North Chesterfield
