Mets lost to the lowly Pirates today. Got shut out and no-hit for 6+ innings by a guy making his second MLB start.

Hard to win games when no one on the team can hit.  Wright is likely out for the season, Confortto is likely getting demoted and Duda is a question mark so there's no one to protect Cespedes.  Nationals are 6 games ahead and unless the Mets make some big moves there's no way with this lineup they will catch them.

Conforto isn't going anywhere. He's a young player that is slumping. There is a chance Wright will never play baseball again. Getting Duda back will be a boost. But without trading pitching i cant see how the mets make a trade that is going to have a huge impact in the lineup similar to Cespedes last season. The bones of a good offense are there. They just need to get on a hot streak.

So I basically missed two weeks of the season while I was in Ireland, thankfully got to miss the Nationals' 7-game losing streak.  Still, they have a 4-game lead over the third place Mets after last night's 11-4 drubbing.  Not such a bad place to be.

Mets are tooling up now for their championship surge.  It's a mistake to write off these beasts.

I don't think anyone's writing them off...

Then again, with half of their lineup and starting rotation either on the DL or in AAA, maybe they should be.

. Once the mets figure out how to hit a baseball again we're well on our way to 110 wins.

Based on the recent series, the Mets are still working on that hitting stuff, apparently unsuccessfully.  And now they only have to win 70 of their remaining 85 to get to 110 wins.

You're forgetting who you're talking about. This is the team of Strawberry, Dykstra, and Bonillia. Nothing is impossible.

Only the Cubs are projected to get over 100 wins going forward.

The Mets are projected to end up around 87 wins. They'll be in the wild card hunt if they go as projected.

A cool graph showing how the teams probability of winning the WS has changed since the start of the season.

Looks like the Mets have a 100% chance of winning the world series, based on that graph.

Maybe I missed something, but I'm pretty sure those three are off playing golf somewhere, not baseball.  This is the team that traded most of its prospects off last year, so there's little chance of a significant trade, and that has two of its better starting pitchers with bone spurs, so they may not last the entire season.

That also has charts showing the probability of making the playoffs.  They're estimating the Mets are just barely better than even money right now.

You are correct

Here's the one for winning the world series.

If by 100% you mean, 51% chance of making the playoffs and only 3.5% chance of winning the world series then sure ;)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
