Have you trimmed your stock driver shaft?

(Sorry, for another thread on this, found a few in my search and I have read them)

Have the low handicappers in this forum trimmed the stock driver shaft for accuracy? I really need advice here. 

I have Taylormade M1 which is 45.5" long. I'm 5'11" and swing 105-110mph. 

My weakness is my driver in/consistency. This badly affects my scores and my swing speed kills my round in tight courses.

Does taking off 1-2" help the game?

If I choke down on the driver a lot, I'm able to control the driver (but lose a little bit of distance) and is straight. Most importantly, I'm able to turn the body and get a good swing like I can get with my long irons. With a standard grip, my arms take over and my downswing is very wayward. 

any advice if I should work my driver swforum with stock shaft or go ahead with trimming the shaft?

I took 3/4" off my stock shaft Aeroburner driver. It did help but I think a lot was psychological.

Whether psychological or not, if it helped the help was real!

Trimmed my driver down to 44.25" and really like it.

Yes.  I trimmed a couple of drivers down, both to about 44.5 and my contact has been much better since.

Yes it helps. My advice is to trim 1/2 inch at a time and see how it feels. It will make the club feel lighter.

I trimmed my previous driver down to 44" or 44.5" and hit it better.  My current driver shaft is naturally at one of those lengths (got fit for it by Titleist -- it was my first real driver fitting).

Trimmed to 44.5" and added lead tape to the bottom to bring the SW back up on my Big Bertha. Trimmed to 44.5 on my Razr Fit and left it alone - the D6 was too heavy - it's now a D3 and that's just fine.

It helps some.... but we'll never be consistent with the driver because we didn't start playing young enough and won't quit our day jobs to practice 6 hrs a day.
