He says, as he's going to the olympics he can't go to Scotland.

Steve Stricker is also playing, 4 spots available for the Open.

I'd love to see Russel Knox do well in his home town.

Stricker punched his ticket to the Open in Memphis a few weeks ago, for the record.

From the European Tour live blog:

Commentator: "He has 125 to the front. Pin is on 33. So 168 yards, into the wind, playing about 190" #LinksGolf

But to be fair, only 2 clubs more seems still reasonable. If you are unlucky, you easily have to take 3 or more clubs more. ;)

Patrick Reed needs to take hill sliding lessons from Phil Mickelson. Funny hearing the applause after advancing the ball, albeit to another awful spot.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

The commentator learned the "new math" then.....

I hope the players enjoy the wind

I wonder if he would have been better off setting up for a left-handed shot so he could lean into the hill and make a more active downswing by leaning into the slope a bit (vs. having the slope angle push him out toward the ball with the below the feet lie)?

Conversely, could he have under the rules grounded his butt on the slope and just taken an upper body swing?

Winds expected to gust 30mph this afternoon, the later starters are going to get it.

Luiten played in the afternoon. He said he hit an iron 2 over 300 metres, and on the next hole an iron 2 which got 160 metres. the wind was brutal..

Lovely course. One of the best tournaments out there - it's just a shame more don't play it.

So round 3 Eddie Pepperell is teeing off, Curt Byrum says he is driving it much better, been working with Dave Wedzik, all video and phone, nothing in person. Nice plug!

    • Day 5: did a stack session. Did some slow swings between sets, working on hands down.
    • So, I might have to get out of the C-Taper golf shaft. I have an older Mizuno with a KBS Tour shaft in. I was messing around with closing my eyes and feeling where the weight of the club is being felt at. The C-Taper was all in my fingers. I didn't feel much of anything of the club head or shaft of the club. It felt super heavy in my hands. The KBS Tour I could feel a weight further away from my hands, out in space.  The Mizuno weights 2 grams more, but is about 2-3 swing weights lighter than my current irons.  So, yea. I am thinking I might sense the club better with maybe a less stout golf shaft and maybe a lighter swing weight. Probably more to do with the golf shaft. I am thinking the feeling of the weight out in space is more of the shaft loading more easily.
    • Day 25 (2 Apr 26) - Worked on green side chips at the course before helping with the school golf tournament today.  Worked on low flighted spinners to get solid hop and stops.
    • Day 227 4-2 Chest and hip turn with flow drill. Trying to get a rhythm to the hip movement/less segmented feeling.
    • A bit back at it tonight. I just wanted to add in the feel of a softer left arm through out the backswing. This helps me hinge the club. I make sure I am not bending it a ton, but not straightening it. It helps feel like I can keep the club in front of me more and lift the club up sooner.
