So I failed to remember (cuz im an idiot) that soccer season will be in full swing, and I also didn't know until two days ago that I'll be coaching two teams.  Unfortunately, I won't know the schedules for at least a few days, so I have no idea if any time on Saturday will work for me unless we're talking twilight. I might know the schedules in a week.

FYI - I'm in this same boat, so a Saturday event will be tough for me.

Carry on.....

Hi all, I'm bumping this thread up to see if there are any changes and/or are we still on for this.

PS: Shindig I sent you a private mssg re: prizes.

I'm still in.  Sounds like time and place is still fluid though, as some folks are tentative.

It's still up;  the time (of day) and place are fluid, but I think it'll be Sept 24.

I appreciate the offer of prizes, Fredo, but you don't have to.

Bump.  I'll start double-checking with folks who have said they can or might be able to make it today or tomorrow to see who would be able to make a 9AM start  on September 24 ... and if that depends on course(s) chosen.

Hello Michael, Are you still going to Brookside and in this area? I've been pretty busy the last month with my company moving to Old Town and all.

Was the location established? If it's close to home, I might be able to make it. If not, I'll come next time.

@Golfingdad's home course looks really nice, if I were the rest of you guys, I'd vote for that one. Good golfing. . .

I could probably make it a hesitant maybe. Thanks for including me in the notifications. I have not played in any sort of competition for years and not sure how I would do. What could I expect in the way of expenditure for the day?  Also, my index is not official, but merely calculated on a home made spread sheet, but is accurate.

Our get-togethers are casual and fun, not serious competitons by any means.  You needn't worry about your handicap. :)

My kids' schedules are out now and the games are 10 and 11:30 that day, so if I'm able to be able to plan, then it'd have to be a twilight round.  Ya'll may have to proceed without me.

My daughter lives in the area. She is a beginning golfer, but she might like to play. I have not checked with her yet. I guess it would depend on time of day. She has kids at home, but they are old enough to take care of themselves.

I looked up Santa Margarita and that seems to be Central Valley?

They were talking about Tierjas Creek which is near Lake Forrest I presume. There is an area there referred to as Santa Margarita, but that might just be a street name or sumptin.  Its not far from Irvine, CA.  I live in Escondido which is about an hour or so South off I-15. My geography sucks sometimes, but luckily I have a Garmin.

Hi ya'll!

Sorry to say I will not be able to make the outing on the 24th due to a family engagement.

We lost my cousin to cancer a cpl of weeks ago and will be spreading her ashes on the Baja coast on the 24th.

Have a great time and don't forget to post  a bunch of photos for those of us that can't make it this time a-round (see what I did there?). Hope to make the next one.

Looks like we have 8 people either committed or tentatively interested in this outing/date.  Is Tijeras Creek a workable location for those interested?  FYI, it works for me.

Did I miss anybody else who was interested?

Just to keep this moving, I think the list is now a little smaller.  If 9am is the goal for tee times, that leaves me out, along with Lihu and 3 putts for sure.  This is the lineup for now?? ...

That's two foursomes for you guys (if you're all still yes'), and the 24th is only 11 days away, so this should be buttoned up in the next couple of days so tee times could be made.

I'm not sure how I got on the list as I won't be able to make it and haven't said that I would.  Sorry guys, I can't make this one.

I'd rather include a name that couldn't go than exclude one that could.  Sorry about that.  However, just to needle you a bit ...

I don't do well in the heat and wouldn't want to play if it's over 90 degrees.  I'm going to have to pass on a summer outing.

The Autumnal Equinox is two days prior and the current forecast suggests the high will only reach 83*. :-P

@Golfingdad Weather sounds good but I still can't make it.

Off topic:

Spoiler

FWIW, I'm fixin' on sending out a post for Torrey Pines once the North is reopened later this year.  Maybe not great for nonresident card holders at $125 but at $50 for residents it's a really good value.  I wonder if I'll get any takers.

    • You need to stick with one instructor as long as they’re not terrible. There’s no blueprint to improving a golf swing and different instructors may see different things as being more important and try to fix them. The end result is you get a hodge podge of things to work in that may not be cohesive or necessarily help you. If you stick to one instructor and communicate to them as such, they’ll also be able to work out a roadmap to your improvement which is more beneficial in the long run. If a guy assumes you’re just coming in for one lesson you might end up with a band aid.

    • Many thanks.  I read a lot of those posts.   Man, that is really deep.  As an old beginner, during a lesson or on the driving range, I have hit a good shot, you know pretty straight and it goes say 130 yards (7 iron).  The very next swing, I dig a ditch behind the ball.  I know I didn't do the same things on both swings.  Even this last lesson I had, I would hit a pretty good shot, not so on the next shot.  The instructor would quickly point out, "Hey you stayed on your back foot" or "Guess what happened there.  You got all armsy or handsy".  Sort of feels like I need a checklist when I prepare to swing each time.  I can see it now before every swing, "Hey can you guys give me 10 minutes while I run through my checklist".  In all seriousness, I see what you all are saying.  I wouldn't be overthinking it so much if just I could make decent contact most of the time.  Next lesson is about two weeks away.  Can't wait.

    • I was going to link in the same think @snapfade did.  Your swing is already consistent, repeatable, except for nearly "microscopic" differences.  The more mechanically-sound your swing becomes, the smaller and less frequent those "microscopic" deviations become.
