I'm signing up for the PGA Tour's free league. I've encountered a bit of a hiccup in creating the league for our members, but I'll update this post when I have the details.

Subscribe to this thread with notification so you can see when I update.

Update: See post #15 in this thread for information on signing up.

I'm assuming that it's the free "Pick 'em" style league that we will be using?

*edit* And I just caught the "free" part in your post. DOH! My apologies. I'm stuck here bored at work "supervising" contractors that are installing some ductwork.

An idea I'd suggested on another golf forum - Why don't we try playing this year without Tiger as one of our picks? Thing is, bar a meteor taking out his house, nuclear winter, or the world being engulfed in flames by any of a number of theoretical mega disasters, Tiger's going to win. And he's going to win a lot.

I'd suggest we play with "No Tiger" because it'd make all of us think a bit more about our choices, is all.

I hate to be so ignorant, but would you explain what the PGA Tour's free league is? Thanks.

I'll give it a go. It would be interesting to see how things turn out without Tiger as a choice.

The (free) Pick 'Em is now active. So far as I know, the steps are:
  1. Create your free account if you don't have one already ( here's teh link ). Name your team. I think you can rename your team later - for now mine is just my name.
  2. Join the league named "Sand Trap".
  3. You'll be prompted for a password. It is"L2383Vny" (no quotes).

That should be it.

Tiger's in, because:
  1. we have no way to enforce it, and someone joining up late may not know about the rule, and
  2. he doesn't play that often, and the times he doesn't win, someone could make a big move if they choose another player over Tiger and the rest of us choose Tiger.
  3. you still have to pick, what, five other players? There's still plenty of room to differentiate the teams and the weekly scores.

Tiger's in, because:

OK, that's fair enough. I was just assuming we'd pick a list of players, and be awarded points as they placed well in tournaments.

    • Managed this today. On most occasions when I have done so, it's been because I didn't think about it. Normally it pops into my head somewhere on the back nine and I'll think "oh I haven't made any 6s today" and in the next hole or two I'll make a six. Stupid game. Today on 13 I holed about a 4 foot putt for a five and it popped into my head. Never looked remotely like making a six after that either, so I was pretty pleased with it on this occasion. Par in the first row then score in the second 443443545 434543444 443444545 544533453 for a 73(+2). Two birdies, four bogeys. It was in a qualifier and it looks like the birdie I made on 18 got me in. 10/14 fairways, 13/18 greens, 33 putts.
    • I’ve linked to it within the past day or two. Yeah.
    • Very possibly, but it would have probably taken me five or more minutes to find them. There are 395 pages in this thread! I've probably made a virtually word-for-word similar post elsewhere in here too
