#UpstateGolf

last July @RFKFREAK, @colin007, @krupa, and myself did an outing at Conklin Players Club... I figured the four of us and maybe @JxQx and others in the upstate area could do an outing in May or June. I was looking in the Syracuse Rome Utica area and also more in the I-88 corridor at Leatherstocking or thereabouts.

If anyone has any ideas for where and when, use this forum to communicate, I don't have a problem with making the reservations or making the phone calls, etc. the more we can get the easier and probably cheaper it will be. The four of us that went before were not being competitive at all. Which we wouldn't do but if we can round up say 16, we can possibly get a tournament rate somewhere.

Utica or Leatherstocking would be awesome for me.

Twin Ponds looks like it might be nice.  The rates aren't horrible (though they may be late-season rates) and the course has some challenging holes.  (17 looks like a bastard.)

Bumping this to see if it's something people still want to do.

As you noted in the other thread, I'm getting hitched this summer (and thanks for the well-wishes!)  There's no way I could do it before August and honestly, there's very little chance of me doing it in August.  Maybe late August would work but I can't commit to anything.

And? You have to establish golf is a priority so you can get that marriage going on the right foot ;-)

Congratulations and good luck!

Thanks!  She's already established golf as a priority... not for her, she doesn't really like it but she's concerned that I spend too much time in front of computers and kicks me out of the house to play golf.

Late August, early September, next spring we'll figure it out... @krupa I'm pretty sure, I'll have next Saturday (the 8th) off... And a couple other weekends, if you wanna go play golf with me, (before or after you get married)... I'm 15 minutes away... (Might be 5 by next spring, lol)

I might be able to play on the 8th, especially if we play early.  It's hard to say right now, though.   I'll try to get it on the calendar.

ATTENTION: @krupa, @colin007, @RFKFREAK, @JxQx, @Elmer, @9wood

I set up a club for us Upstate New York golfers. I just named it that, but we can take Northern Tier PA golfers too.

It could help us... Connect more with one another... And perhaps do more localized outings during the year and maybe plan on having a big centralized outing every year. (Or we can just rotate it through the regions).

There are several Upstate Golfers on THP. Most of us guys on here wouldn't be interested in anything competitive with them. However, we could perhaps do a Upstate NY TST members meet and plays golf with Upstate NY THP members... Just as a get together... Not a tournament, just a get together. (Though it usually is a little cheaper if you can get 16 or more together, and get the tournament rate).

I started a brainstorming thread for the club for next year, so if you would like to join, it's an open club.... So you are more than welcome to.

Thanks,

@onthehunt526

    • I agree. I would have thought it would save them shipping costs. I will say, I don't really mind. I'm guessing the labor cost to remove the head and repack it is greater than the difference in shipping costs. I'm guessing Callaway has a deal with UPS because the shipping label they sent me only showed a cost of like 8 bucks and change. Feels like it would have costed me more to ship it.  When the guy I spoke to told me they were sending me a complete driver and I could choose to keep my old shaft or keep the new one, I was actually kind of excited. It was like a little driver shaft lottery. ... I didn't win though. The shaft I got was almost the same as the one I had just the R version instead of the S version. Mine's a 60 gram Hzrdus Black.  The other thing I kind of liked about it is that they shipped it the same day I talked to the guy. So it was fast.  Lastly, I'm pretty sure the guy I talked to was in California, and the driver definitely shipped to me out of Texas. That's also where I sent it back to.  So, overall, really I have no complaints.

    • That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard… they only have complete clubs…. They couldn’t have unscrewed it like you did???  Wow…right?
    • Day 156: went to the range for a bit. Worked on the backswing stuff. Results were mixed, but that’s okay.
