I still use it as there are still a number of decent deals on a handful of area courses that make up for the fees charged.  There are still some good courses on it, but most of them are a little out of the way so it would make sense for them I suppose to still have a few heavily discounted slots to offer.

It was a good idea that didn't work for every course. Our pro hated it because of the fees and the hot deals, it simply didn't bring in enough people to justify the expense. It was never about the end user the perks were offered as bait to drive paying customers to the courses. At the time many had archaic booking systems, some were still using tee sheets. Our course has changed systems 3x in 3 years. GN missed an opportunity to expand.

I don't understand them taking away the rewards program from 3-4 years ago with the Cleveland/Srixon rewards.  Cleveland/Srixon has to benefit everytime someone goes to their website and buys new stuff. Even at 10 percent off or whatever the perks were.

I haven't used GN in 3 years.  There is apparently just no course in Idaho that uses the service, but even before I stopped using it the great deals started getting much harder to find.  I'm a little surprised it's still going actually because, yeah, it looked like they were getting greedy with the fees and like courses were having a change of heart about the prices they were putting out there.

They actually called me about 3 weeks ago.    They said they had a free round for four and all I had to do was show up, play and review Golfnow and the course.   Sadly I had a prior tee time that I didn't want to relinquish.

I tried out golfnow for about 2 weeks. The hot deals are actually some pretty good deals, too bad the courses that are listed near me are not the best quality. I'd rather set up a tee time on a courses website for full price when I know they keep their course in good shape. $8 for 18 in Detroit has me curious though...

The tee time search procees is broken. There needs to be one site that will search all public tee times in the area.

Does anyone know the terms or processes for courses to share their tee times? Would courses share tee time info if they offered listing free?

This really isn't a "requirement" like you make it sound. Some clubs have their own website for their tee times. If this site was available, someone has to pay for it and it is not going to be done without profit. Most courses like control of the tee times in house. I am hoping to have member accessibility to setting tee times online at my course someday but I don't know if it will be feasible.

Even when I wasn't a member of a course I never really considered using GolfNow.  A couple times I used a Groupon for a nice local course that was good for the year.  No commitment for a specific date.

Sounds like GolfNow's business model needs to change...or die.

    • I definitely have to get in a mental ZONE to putt well, and it is a major difference.  I can feel when I am in it, but I do not have the best focus.  So it is a challenge for me to get there and stay.  I get to the course very early whenever possible. My pre-round goals include: 1. Find that putt Nirvana. 2. Stretch my back into functioning condition (I'm missing three discs). 3. Range, then pray that I hit my drives on the front nine like I do on the range. ------------------------------------------------------- I have not been practicing putting on the practice green because, well the courses do not seem to want people to.  But there are always a few folks using the practice areas.  I wonder if them pulling the flags out and then not bothering to enforce any sort of rules reflects COVID window dressing and not any sort of genuine purpose.  My putting has not been grand since quarantine, and I would like to get on that green.
    • I have been doing quite well this season but we have decided to leave our home club. Moving to a new club tomorrow and will need to do a par challenge instead since it is a tougher course. But I am pretty sure I will at least par every hole once this season!
    • Well, after all the great posts from so many of you, the time has come for me to admit that I was right all along...and so were so many of you! We moved to AZ last year in June and I began playing with a bunch of guys from ages 70-85.  Great guys who played golf by the strict rules of the game.  At first, I shot 101 and the next week it was down to 87 and the next into the lower 80's etc.  That was from early July 2019 through early September.  And then mid-October came along and my back was simply gone.  I could no longer make a full turn (or even a half-turn) away from the ball.  The MRI's saw a bulged and herniated discs as well as the expected arthritis that we all experience as we age. Since then, it's gotten worse.  Where I could formerly hit my 6 iron over 150 yards, it now goes maybe 110 yards at most.  The money I paid to play at a rather "high-end" golf club is gone (Covid19 caused both nice restaurants and Spa areas to close) and my membership will end in early fall of this year.  Both courses are still open but with limited play and closing early in the late afternoons.  Six people have been diagnosed with the Virus and yet, the course stays open because it is considered "essential" here in AZ. My cousin is a leading Epidemiologist out of Atlanta, GA and early indications say the Virus will come back with a vengeance this fall.  I hope he is wrong!  Meanwhile, I am looking into finding an electric bicycle just to get some much-needed exercise.  Just sitting and watching Netflix is seriously getting old. I hope all of you stay well and realize what a Pandemic truly is--and of course, how our bodies just don't allow us to play golf as well as our minds think we ought to play.  HA!  Stay safe out there! • Day 90: Still the one armed drilled. Did some fuller swings as well. Working on getting the hips open and my right elbow and wrist more bent at impact.
    • 10-15 minutes or so for me, spent almost entirely on putting and maybe a few chips/pitches. I almost always try to play early in the morning, so the most important part of my pre-round routine is a massive quantity of coffee (I pretty much play a different course every time I play, so a big part of my full routine is a game I like to call "find decent coffee on the way to some course in the middle of nowhere").
