"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge

DAY 177B    After the rains and some errands... I was back on the range for 2 hours.   Working through the motion drills again from my GGGA Workbook.    4 1/2 hours of range time today.... tired, but feel I am making progress as the quality of the ball striking as I am doing the drills is better and this correlates with improved swing mechanics.

Day 15:

I practiced Aimpoint Express techniques for the first time today! I watched a video explaining it today on YouTube, and I read some articles explaining it as well so I thought I would give it a try. And the result was.....  seriously a great putting practice on putts inside ten feet. Excited to practice more with this technique. All in all it was about 20-25 minutes today.

Day 137

LW, and putter work this morning. Hit full swing LWs, then short chips with the same club. Then some flops. (B)

After that, I went to the practice putting green. Play 24 pin locations, with longer than normal putts, practicing my lags. (B+)

Focus on all these, was not much focus at all. It was just look at shot, address the shot, and hit the ball. Much like I do when playing.

My wife showed up to pick me up, and saw me make 3 of 4 of my longer putts. "I see you can putt again" was her remark. Got her fooled, I think.

In My Bag:
A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

Day 1: *sigh*

404 consecutive days without missing one, then this happens.

I'm sure you guys probably are wondering what happened to me. I will keep it short, brief and too the point. I was in the hospital for a week. I was not able to access a computer or my smartphone for a week. So whilst I did do some swing things to practice, I did not and could not post that is the reality of the situation. (I was able to use the computer the last couple of days while I was in, but I had more important things I needed to address and look up and such whilst I was using it. 404 days in a row is a very good accomplishment.

I did some arm swings this afternoon focusing mostly on being relaxed through the swing, not so rigid, relaxed, like laying in a hammock.

Welcome back, and hope everything is alright. Great accomplishment indeed, and more in store down the road I’m sure!

Day 12: Spent about an hour practicing. 40 minutes hitting balls - got some good work in, and some really good swings in before my tournament on Sunday. Then went to the putting green and practiced long lag putts and putts inside of 10 feet.

Day 48, May 18 - Worked on tempo today and my priority piece. A playing partner of mine yesterday notice I was getting really quick in the backswing, transition and downswing on my mishits. I slowed things down during the round and it improved. So I worked on that today for about 40 minutes hitting into a net.

Day 138.

More LW, and putter practice. These clubs only because they were the only 2 clubs I had with me when I was driving by the course and decided pull in.

Hit 28 full LWs. 40% we're really accurate. One putt range. Except for one fatty, the rest were in easy two putt range. These were 50 yard shots. (B+)

Putted one ball to 24 pin placements. Par being 48, and I was +4 at 52.  All putts we're 8-12 feet. No one putts. I was even par for the first 16 pins. (B+)

Focus again was just simple stuff. Mostly ball location in my stance. With the wedge I focused a little on getting to the top, with a one piece take away.

Putter was distance control. I'm really beginning to like this Heavy Putter.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

Day 17:

Short Game today. 30+ Minutes. my GG profile has told me that I am struggling from 25+ yard pitch shots around the green. So I played 18 holes of "short game golf" today playing each hole as if I had a nGIR around 25 yards from the practice green in different/random lies and different/random angles to the various pins on the green. My goal was to get up and down+ 1 for the bogey version of scrambling. On 17 of the holes I either got up and down for Par (Twice), bogeyed the hole (13 times), or took double (twice). That was very solid Bogey golf...except it was only 17 holes. On the one outlier hole I cuffed a tight lie pitch, then bladed another across the green into a water hazard that fronts the practice green. Took a quad on the hole from 25 yards out. Yuck. The good news is that my Aimpoint Putting technique was still REALLY promising!

DAY 179.  Spent most of today driving!!  We are building a new home 2 1/2 hours away, so we had to meet with the builder, and lighting folks.   Thanks to my Impact Ball and shortened 5 iron I can practice my backswing and start of downswing,... working in a focused manner on staying in my posture.  Spent 15 minutes of working on my swing.  Waiting for tomorrow so I can be back on the range and putting green.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
