Day 17 - Played 18 holes, did a pretty good job remembering my priority piece and the feel with that, iron contact was very solid, absolutely flushed multiple long irons. Didn't score as well as I struck the ball but that was mainly due to a poor short game and some missed short putts.

Day 191, May 10, 2023

Worked on slow motion stuff before heading to the course in the afternoon to watch Nat play. Same stuff, shoulder still feels much better.

Day 45: May 10

Played round a golf at a different course (bit longer with a fair number of hills). I took far too long to adapt to the pace of the greens, so I butchered a few decent opportunities to score. I’m also fairly happy at how I was playing from uphill/downhill/side hill lies. Couple of mental errors cost me.

But the big takeaway was my lack of cardiovascular fitness. I really flagged on the last 3 holes and the results showed. Short term fix is easy: have snacks (banana, etc) with me for a quick pick-me-up. Longer term is to improve my physical fitness.

Day 3 - Played 9 this morning at Rose Hill, a nearby Par 3. First time seeing the course...nice Par 3 with plenty of bunkers and water on several holes.

Day 46: May 11

Been working on transition, trying to get my hips turning (not sliding) early in the downswing whilst making sure I don’t cast/ throw the club. I want this out-to-in path with fairway woods & driver to be no worse than -3. I accept I’ll hit bad shots - and my club path is light years better than it was - but if I want to achieve the goals I’m setting then I have to get this sorted.

Day 5. Worked on feeling backswing length and tempo. I tend to get short on the course.

Day 75 (11 May 23) - Easy day today, left foot (the transmet amputation one) developed a couple of weepers in the grafted skin - no torsional rotation for a couple of days so the skin can heal - did swing tempo work with the 7i ( count “one”-club to horizontal, count “two” club at top of backswing and “three” club at impact).

Day 3:

Still practicing backswing, trying to feel athletic and not get stuck right after takeaway. I feel like my eyes focus on the ball at address and then as soon as the club moves they rapidly change intent to clubhead, and then try to re-find the ball near the top, and by that point the backswing is terrible. Did a lot of rehearsals with an almost golf ball for a prop. Then continued with a real ball just hitting soft 8-irons, not really focusing at all on downswing/contact, just for the fun of actually hitting a ball. Have a lesson tomorrow.

Day 25: Good, long practice session today. practiced for a solid 2 hours - worked on everything. Worked on full swing for about 45 minutes - focused on the same stuff, and it was actually a bit of a struggle. Need more work on my priority piece. Then went and putted for a while. I worked mostly on short and medium putts, but also worked in some lag putting. Did a few drills on each length. Putting is feeling really good right now. Finished up at the short game area. Worked on a variety of shots - bump and run, chip, and pitches. Generally pretty good, but could be crisper.

All in all, a good practicing day.

    • Day 4 (5 May 24) - mirror work focused on “feel of weight” transfer onto lead foot.  Continued work to develop trust in lead foot being able to handle full weight pressure…
    • Ok, so I’m still confused here. Are you saying I could have used the only available Spot in the bunker even though it was 6-7 feet closer to the hole?
    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
