Just got here.  Just got suspeneded (from posting) at the other place after posting that Kelly T. had a lesbian accent.

I would never say that here, but would like to know if this kind of thing gets you banned/suspended on this site.

The Sand Trap .com began in mid-2004 when Erik J. Barzeski (@iacas) and a few friends, all golf nuts, wanted a place of our own to talk about golf - to share opinions, to review courses and equipment, and to chat amongst ourselves and like-minded folks.

Thanks.  I  don't post childish stuff.

Sometimes biting humor, but never obscene/profane.

I leave that to verbal utterances after hitting shots on the golf course.

Welcome!

Probably would take a bit more than a "lesbian accent" comment to be banned around here. If I had to summarize what I've seen so far, the folks banned are ones that don't let a certain issue go. They'll come back to it over and over, even long after it's obvious the discussion isn't going anywhere.

Some good info there. As I recall, somewhere around here it says that our standard boils down to just "don't be a jerk."

One little comment probably wouldn't do it, particularly if in jest and maybe a bit "off color." We had one guy who denigrated like 3 different ethnic groups in one flame post, we hid it because it was not in jest, it reflected poorly on our site discussions.  And even from there, it even took a bunch of "freedom of expression" arguments to cut that guy off for good. He just wouldn't let it go that he couldn't express his opinion that one ethnic group was a bunch of [insert your bad trait here].

Anyway, welcome! Good to see you jumping right in.

On this golf forum, a comment about about someone's sexual orientation would probably need some factual back up, would be my guess.

I'd be inclined to ignore it, but if it was evidence in a pattern of childish shit, to care about it at that point.

Hmmmm.... Is it me, or you just did? Whatever you think (and whether true or not), it's not cool so say that. Respect people, all people. I hope you get it and wise up. If so, welcome here. If not, get lost...

First of all, welcome to the site.

And on the lighter side: That's exactly what I was thinking.  You won't say it here, but you just did. :hmm:

    • Both @DaveP043 and I play in our interclub matches every year, and have been team Captains as well.  There are always a few courses, mine is one, that win a lot of matches (we've won twice in the last 7 years), and we've been labeled as sandbaggers.  However, I really think that our course was rated too low (our greens just never seemed to get factored in enough), and thus our Handicaps were always a stroke or maybe 2 above, what they would've been if the course was rated higher.  And then when we went and played other courses, their slope and rating were much higher than ours, and sometimes I would get a 2 or 3 stroke bump on top of that.  It was definitely an advantage.  However, this past year, our course was rated again and the slope has gone up, so we'll see if we continue to have the same benefit.  Season starts this Sunday for us.

    • I would not do anything until I met with an instructor and got your swing looked at. There are some obvious better club options out there though. Spend 50 bucks on a lesson, practice and start piecing together a bag that works for you. Enjoy the journey.
