Kathy Whitworth Is A Stud

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Hall of Famer and the player with the most wins by tour of any player in history, Kathy Whitworth.  She came out to the club to hit some balls and say hi to some of the members.  Unfortunately I didn't have my phone on me at the time, so I don't have any pics to share. But I was amazed at how fit and healthy she is.  She is almost 80 years old, but if you didn't know you'd think she is 55.  She is sharp as a tack, and her golf swing is unbelievable.  She only had one club with her (a mid iron), and without warming up or stretching that I saw, she is still able to make a full turn and gets the club up to the top of the swing beautifully.  Very Sam Snead-like.

Here are a few highlights so you don't have to look it up:

• 88 wins on LPGA Tour
• 6 Majors
• 98 professional wins
• Inducted into Hall of Fame in 1975
• LPGA Money Winner 8 times in 9 years
• Player of the Year 7 times in 8 years
• Vare Trophy Winner 7 times in 8 years
• A.P. Female Athlete of the Year 2 times
• Golfer of the Decade by Golf Digest (68-77)

Pretty impressive.

I had the pleasure of meeting her a few years back, she and my father were inducted into the New Mexico Athletic Hall of Fame the same year. She was a very nice lady.

Sad to say I know nothing about her.   Her accomplishments are legendary.

Pretty impressive record. First win in 1962 and last win in 1985. Have to admit, i cant see many on the LPGA or other ladies tours being able to match that these days.

It is. But I don't want it to spiral into another TW thread because he has 106 professional wins, which last time I checked, was greater than 98. So let's stick to KW.

That's probably because i'm not a troll.

For the record i was referring to 88 Tour wins - the top number posted (and most important), which is the most on her major tour (in this case LPGA Tour). Sam Snead has 82 to top his major tour (PGA Tour). Who knows, or cares, what other minor professional tour the other wins come from. I stand by my statement that nobody will pass 88 Tour wins.

You said "her win total." Tiger's already at 106, and 106 > 98. If you want to BS us and pretend that you meant wins on major tours, then Tiger's at 87 (one shy) if you count only his PGA Tour (79) and European Tour (8) wins.

And as noted above, this is off topic, and so no further discussion of this is warranted. Stop trolling.
