Really pumped for this one, so I figured I would get the thread going. I really like this tournament. First real tournament of the year, and it airs later than normal, making for good night viewing. It's also pure golf porn - beautiful course that looks like a blast to play, plus great weather. Good field this year, too, including Rory, DJ, JT, Rahm, Day, Molinari. I really like this course for Rory. Huge fairways, and he'll be able to hit a ton of drivers.

The season is upon us, boys!

Thanks for posting.

It is my favorite course visually to watch on TV. Stunning views and the players are more relaxed than in other tournaments.

Yeah, this always feels like the start of the new season for me, able to see a lil light at the end of the winter tunnel.

Good lord does Rory have a beautiful swing.

I like this one too because it reminds me that there are courses out there that have warm weather and are not plug city everywhere.

One thing slightly bugging me but not surprising is that everyone, I think, except for Bryson has taken flag out when on green.

I just saw Brandt Snedeker putt from off the green with the flag out.  Now, he made it, and good for him, but is he trying to make me go prematurely bald?

SLIG is now taking it out on certain mid length putts?

Wow I’m watching a golf tournament (that doesn’t involve Tiger Woods) for the first time in years, maybe since the summer of 2016 (I’ve had health issues since that time, so watching golf isn’t particularly enjoyable for me when I can’t play). This is a cool sign that I’m gradually easing back into the game. Pretty cool.

Damn this course is a bomber’s paradise. So beautiful. It amazes me how some winners decline to play here. You know your life is amazing when you’re eligible for this event and you’re like nah....

Jeez so Webb Simpson has a gray beard now apparently. Good Lord have I been away a long time. Between that, new names like Cameron Champ and Kevin Tway, and Bryson putting with the flag still in, I’m feeling a bit like Ash Williams here:

As someone with a gross beard myself, I feel compelled to irrationally defend him. 🧔😜

Rooting for Rory today but I get the sense that Woodland is hitting it too well this week to be caught, even though Rory is hitting it amazing too.

I’m annoyed as a Rory fan, despite all his putting struggles over the last couple seasons, that he won’t leave the stick in.

I’m flipping between this and the Bears game obviously but man, this is really my first extended look at Bryson DeChambeau and he really does look like a robot out there 😂

So this Xander Soufflé character is pretty good. You rarely see a comeback on this track too given it’s forgiving fairways.

What an incredible round for Schauffele, after an opening bogey no less!  Kudos to Gary Woodland for keeping his head in the game too.

I know it’s early in the year, but if you missed this one, you missed what will absolutely be on of the standout rounds of the year!

In David's bag....

Driver: Titleist 910 D-3;  9.5* Diamana Kai'li
3-Wood: Titleist 910F;  15* Diamana Kai'li
Hybrids: Titleist 910H 19* and 21* Diamana Kai'li
Irons: Titleist 695cb 5-Pw

Wedges: Scratch 51-11 TNC grind, Vokey SM-5's;  56-14 F grind and 60-11 K grind
Putter: Scotty Cameron Kombi S
Ball: ProV1

Guy shoots 62 to win by one. Damn, these guys are good. Also, it must be frustrating to lose to that if you’re Gary Woodland, but Woodland kept laying back today, with iron off the tee a couple times. That was annoying to see.

Great tournament though. It was fun watching this one. I missed this.

That was fun. That approach shot by Xander into 18 was incredible. I thought he overcooked the draw and was dead, but it was perfect.

I was rooting for Woodland to tie so we could play 18 again. I feel like they should just play that hole 18 times. So freaking cool.

    • No rain while I was out (9am to 11:30am). Fairly pleasant for a late November day in the Mitten.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-25 Did the BAD Challenge and hit a bunch more other little shots. This was one of the closer shots.
    • 70 today. The number looks good but, the course is a par 67 (5,110 yards, 64.3/115.). While the 70 took quite a few good shots to achieve, I am not counting that as shooting my age.
    • Played our town’s executive course this morning. Everything is closing but for now Huron Hills remains open. #13 is shaped like an upside down backwards L (dogleg left). Only 231 yard par 4. Dogleg has a tree guarding the corner and a sand bunker guards the green for those cutting the dogleg. Tiny green. About 10 years ago or more I would try to cut the dogleg. The hole is so short that even if one tangled with the tree or was bunkered, par was likely and birdie was still on the table. Now in my 70’s, I just hit it straight and try to wedge it close for birdie. Today I screwed up and pulled my drive. I wandered around a bit when my ball was not in the bunker. Finally located it on the approach to the green. Almost chipped in and tapped in the 2 inches for birdie. Best unintentional shot of the week. 😲
