The part of the ball on the lip of th hole is less than halfway from the leftmost edge of the ball, more like a third.  Thus it's impossible for part of the ball not to be below the surface.

I saw the pic you posted with the white circle over the ball.  i agree that the center of the white circle is about midway. But the original photo, of the ball, doesn't quite look that way.

Yes it was discussed but it’s pretty bull****. 

 

For real life purposes - look at the ball from the top down is it:

a. more than half of it over the hole

b. less than half of it over the hole

 

if a then holed 

if b then not holed. 

Yes there is a minute chance that the ball is still a couple of microns “out” of the hole but who cares really? Common sense should take over from time to time. 

 

With all being said it’s not visible from the OP pic if the ball was indeed more than 1/2 over the hole.

We've already established in the case of a rounded lip, a ball could be more than halfway over the hole when viewed from the top and still not actually in it.

I know you did, but in real life that isn’t really possible to determine as there is no way to view the plane of the hole directly in cross section as in your sketches.

For the record, I simply got tired of belaboring the point.  It is a judgment call, and not a tidy one.
