I don't know about Wishon, but I recently bought the JPX 850 forged. I'm a 15 handicap and they are plenty forgiving with great feel. Highly recommend.

That's fantastic, congrats!! None yet, but tomorrow's another day.......

equipment Question about make-up
Jmdmbike replied to onthehunt526's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't change based on course or conditions - sometimes I will swap my 4 iron back in and take out the 4 hybrid, which usually does not turn out to be the best idea........ -
Need a new wedge - please help
Jmdmbike replied to joem1cha3l's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I carry a Vokey SM6 58 K grind - fantastic wedge. I'm a 15 handicap, and have no issue with this wedge. K grind seems perfect, good bounce - 12 degrees - and enough width on the sole that it is easy enough to hit from pretty much any situation. Check it out. -
take a look at Titleist AP1's - they started in 2008 and updated every 2 years. great clubs, and likely a good option. good luck.

exactly, nothing left to say on this topic......

how many irons do you carry with this set up? must start with a 9 iron? I've owned a couple 7 woods @ 21 degrees, but prefer my hybrid. whatever works.....

Been a while since I posted WITB, so thought it'd be good to update: G30 driver and 5 wood, Titleist 915H hybrid, Mizuno JPX 850 forged, Vokey 56.14 and 58.12 wedges and SC Newport 2. I am going to replace the 56 with a 54

Scotty Cameron Putters - really worth it?
Jmdmbike replied to jkelley9's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a SC Newport 2 that I've bought 5 years ago. Not sure if I putt any better or worse, but I like the looks and feel, so for me it's it's worth it. -
I would love to see Dustin win the Canadian Open. A big name, the Gretzky connection. Would be very cool to see him win this week.

I have always liked the FJ Contours - really comfortable IMO and a traditional looking golf shoe. I also have a couple of pairs of the Ecco BIOM Hybrid shoes, which I started wearing this year. I also find them to be really comfortable. I remember having cheap golf shoes as a kid that were made of some hard man-made material, and they just annihilated you - uncomfortable, blisters, just horrible. Hand me downs from my Dad if I remember. We've come a long way - lots of choice in style, price points, quality and comfort for all!

Best vehicle for golfing family
Jmdmbike replied to spring5497's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
i read something recently in Golf Digest or Golf magazine where the writer was talking about the benefits of the trusty mini van. This one looks pretty good, if you can handle being a mini van guy: https://www.chrysler.ca/en/2017/pacifica/overview?gclid=CJ_Nro2u5s0CFQ4zaQodkwcHNQ -
What ball, and why
Jmdmbike replied to paininthenuts's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Bridgestone B330 RX. Good all round ball, distance and spins on chips and approaches if you hit it well. Loaded up on them when GT had them on sale. -
Which Sun Mountain Bag/Cart Combo Do You Like?
Jmdmbike replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I picked the Speed Cart V1 (I use a Cliq Gear though) and would be the SM cart I'd choose. I have the C130 stand bag - great bag with lots of room like a cart bag, and the 14 way dividers are the way to go for sure.- 30 replies

Improve my approach shots from 150 yards in and hit more greens in regulation. Too often my approach shots are good from a distance perspective, but I am offline - in a bunker, hazard etc. Costs a lot of strokes. If I could average 7 or 8 per round instead of the 4 or 5 I average now, that would be a good result for 2016, make the game more fun, shave a few strokes off my handicap and save quite a few balls as well.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
Jmdmbike replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
just got a new vokey sm6 wedge, 58.12. I play 714 AP1's up to W2, so no room for a 56 and 60 so want to try a 58 to see if it is a good compromise between the two. Also picked up 3 dozen bridgestone b330rx balls on sale for 20% off -
Have you met someone who uses 7 &/or 9 woods?
Jmdmbike replied to freshmanUTA's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've tried a 7 wood a couple times. I use a 21 degree hybrid, which I'd have to take out of the bag to put a 7 wood back in. 7 wood was ok, but hybrid is more consistent and versatile to me. All a matter of personal preference I guess. -
What’s the most famous putter in the history of the game?

not their irons, but a G30 driver and 5 wood, love em!! Like most Ping products, I'm sure you'd find the G30 irons to be excellent quality if you choose to play them.

Too funny. I'm a righty and have played as the only non-lefty in a foursome many times. But the lefties were always nice to me - they didn't make me feel awkward or out of place for being a righty
-
If it goes in, I'd take it. I'd prefer "my first time to be special" but after getting to 3rd base a couple times, I'd really like to "go all the way" before my golfing days are done
-
I've heard guys discuss having an iron and hybrid of the same loft, like 23 degree 4 iron and 4 hybrid, in the bag at the same time, but I don't recall coming across this type of set up. At the end of the day, if that set up works for you, then it works.

How necessary are proper golf shoes?
Jmdmbike replied to cutchemist42's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I think golf shoes help - especially when the conditions aren't totally perfect. So when it's wet, uneven lies, bunkers, etc. I think this has all basically been said. Even when conditions are good - dry, even lies, etc. I think they help just keeping you more stable. Lots of golf shoes look like running shoes/sneakers these days so basically best of both worlds. -
Disturbing trend in cart bags lately ...
Jmdmbike replied to inthehole's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I agree. I have a sun mountain phantom cart bag I bought in 2005 that has basically this type of set up. Works well. They have a new phantom cart bag with the oversized putter will in the front. I tried it for a couple rounds - not sure why but it didn't work as well and putter always seemed to snag when I pulled if out of that bag. That bag only lasted 2 rounds before I ditched it - overall didn't like it - putter well wasn't the only reason but didn't help things.
