  1. I don't have the healing powers of the thread owner but this one seems to be pretty cut and dried. If you're playing for any money, set the rules up front: playing it down, putting out, etc. If he doesn't want to comply, no biggie. Play your game. #arniewould
  2. Yes, about 6 rounds with the 44" and definitely finding the fairway more frequently. Max distance potential gone but average distance up. I'll never go back to 45, let alone TM's standard of 46. Oh, and 2 of my buds have done the same after seeing my results. It's a goddamn movement, like no one has ever seen. Believe me!
  3. This is funny. That little impersonator prick deked me to the point I actually stood up for him a bit. Oddly and unjustifiably, I harbor just a tiny bit of resentment against Kyle for it. So, I do have a palpable reaction when I see his name. Thankfully, it's a very infrequent thing.
  4. Only chose Bridgestone and Titelist as that's all I typically play. All the tour/high-end balls are pretty equitable though.
  5. Cut a driver about 250 or 260, leaving 90-100. Not worried about approach angle with a SW in. That's how I envision it, of course. May over-cut or double-cross then have to play out of trouble but that's how the hole sets up for me in my mind.
  6. I'd like to see Phil and Rory get there in 2017, Jordan in 2018, DJ in 2019. Could happen. Don't see Day getting it done, injuries will hold him back. Not sure why but he seems to be very fragile for a big strong guy.
  7. 1. Spieth, local boy 2. Phil, because he's Phil 3. Rickie, great kid 4. DJ, has it all 5. Rory, love watching him drive the ball 6. Day, good dude
  8. 2 in 27 holes, pretty good until you bump it up against my 4 triples and 2 OB. One should never have more triples or OBs than 3-putts. Crushed the ball, however, so it was a good day.
  9. Interesting, another example of different strokes for different folks. I thought it was pretty benign and boring. 165, playing like 140, no elevation change and I didn't like that crazy 1st hop at yesterday's pin position. I play 10 holes just like it on my regular rota. I did enjoy the course a great deal, however. I guess #1 would be what I thought the most fun to watch (and to play).
  10. That was the craziest round of golf I think I've ever seen. Fun event. Can't wait to see what today brings.
  11. We use this rule in our regular group play, mostly to speed up play (and mostly for lost balls, not OB cuz in that situation you'd hit a provisional). Only happened to me once and it was pretty penal. Woulda rather hit another tee ball.
  12. Didn't appear they were talking about things like that. Tweets I saw were about a concern that tamping down spike marks would be abused on tour (not sure how) and they didn't like grounding club in bunker. Appeared they were trying to keep it tougher or more exclusive on the pro circuit while allowing for more liberal amateur rules. Justin Thomas chimed in as well. Poulter wants to institute a rule to outlaw the greens books/charts, citing the time it takes to review it.
  13. I agree as well. Miller is a bitter old fk. Winds were 20 gusting higher Johnny, kinda tough conditions.
  14. I focus on wrist-cock too. My tempo is 1 - take-away, 2 - cock wrists, 3 - swing. Errrr Nieeee ELS. Works for me.
  15. Dammit, Spieth got screwed by the draw. Was T-3 when he finished this morn, now T-10. As well as he's playing, 5 strokes is not insurmountable in 36 holes, but when DJ is the guy, gonna be tough to win this week, esp without a re-pair (cuz I like Jordan's chances heads up with DJ). Playin tomorrow but lots of DVR should keep me busy tomorrow night.
  16. Bad BMs really stink.
  17. Precision matters but I was about 4 Crowns in at the time I wrote that. Given that, the hyperbole wasn't as bad as it could have been. As I've said, often, I do not expect Jordan to surpass Tiger's accomplishments but it is a logical comparison to make. One might also compare him to Jack and/or Rory but Tiger is the modern standard-bearer.
  18. The reason for the Tiger comparison is because there is no one else with whom to compare Spieth's accomplishments to this point in his career, not because anyone believes he'll hit 14 majors or 79 total Ws. Although 10 and 50 I think is realistic.
  19. Just an FYI to y'all, Jordan Spieth just won his 9th PGA Tour event. He's on Tiger's tail, with an exponentially harder field to contend with. This is some shit.
  20. I've requested one autograph in my adult life, it was for my wife. Chuck Yeager. My wife was an air traffic controller at the time and actually talked to him while he was landing. I got to go to an event he was at that night and had an opportunity. He signed his name with his call letters underneath, Cash 1 1, which I had to recite to prove to him that she had guided him in. That was pretty cool. Pretty sure we got hammered and promptly lost the damn thing but it was memorable to meet the great man. I realize that was off-topic but the mem just popped into my head so I shared.

    Fifty-Nine

How can Tiger win again? Bob May is gone.
  22. This is true. I had 3 in '16 and I'm not very good. Find your proper tee box and square the club at impact from time to time. It'll happen.
  23. Yeah, I take no credit for having him both weeks. 1st week just a lark, 2nd week, no-brainer. I'll ride him hard early cuz I figure he'll hit a wall soon.
  24. Reasonable, measured post. You're a good mod.
  25. One of my all-time favorite books. Hope the movie lives up to it.
