I think it becomes splitting hairs once you get to that many Majors won, it's not really all that relevant to compare them on that stat, they both won enough of them to be on equal ground there IMO. I also agree that both had long enough career to be equal, sure Jack went longer and finished in the most glorious manner, but that doesn't matter, they both had long careers. Maybe it's that I never saw Jack play, and I did watch Tiger that gives me bias, but I think Tiger is the GOAT. Tiger fundamentally changed the game, it took decades? for the field to catch up to his level of play, and the influence he had across the globe, the game never saw such growth, the magic moments are close with both players, but I think Tiger had more, all that gives Mr Woods the edge for me.

You're having a discussion about Max Kellerman, right? Mission accomplished, it doesn't matter if what he says is ignorant, and wrong, he doesn't care, he just wants ratings and now he's getting them.
-
Right, those that think the scorecard penalty is unfair are forgetting about the spirit of the game, its only on her to police her round, nobody else, so unless we're changing that fundamental way we play this game the ruling has to stand. And I think the reason players do this little move is because they assume the ball always falls into a little depression, and they want a clean lie to roll from.
-
The more I think about this the more I think she cheated, like Phil said the move has become common and we've seen it before, but Lexi and the other players probably feel it's a rule that shouldn't be enforced and everyone does it so why not me? The fact that she was winning a tournament- super focused, and that she didn't line up the putt in a normal way that would warrant touching the ball, means that no way would she miss the spot by that much, and there is no other reason for touching the ball but to move it. She cheated. And we've heard from a few other players on the tour in support of Lexi, but overall not that many, I think there are tons of players applauding this ruling.
-
Not OK of course, But why do it? because the ball was lying in a small indent, and she wanted a cleaner lie. Pointless as it seems, it's the only good explanation, I don't buy the brain fart theory.
-
The officials can't do this job, too many players to watch and the officials are not standing on the green watching the ball marks from 3 feet away, which is what they would have to do to get a look like the zoom cameras. And Rory is nuts implying players mark and move their balls like Lexi did, they don't want the infraction and you have to intentionally move it that far, it's not just a mistake, it it were just a little bit we wouldn't be talking about this.
-
She didn't line up the mark on the ball, nor the logo, nor did she step behind the ball to line up the putt, all things every golfer does when lifting, is a clear indication of a questionable move on her part, why touch the ball at all? very sketchy, the only reason I can see is to move the ball over 1", which is what she did.
-
This isn't the first time we've seen this move on the LPGA, Chella Choi pulled it last year and DQ'ed herself over it in protest. So I wonder if this little marker move to improve the lie on the greens, no matter how silly it seems, is some kind of accepted practice among the ladies. I also wonder if there aren't many pros who are applauding the call and not saying anything, because of fear of being demonized over it, because what it comes down to is one players violation means anothers missed dollars, so I would think every pro would want to keep the game closely watched by viewers. Can't be done by officials.

I've been playing as a single a lot lately because the two groups I play with are candy asses and don't play until it's warm out, wimps. I haven't had any problems, not sure why others do but courses want 4 balls going out and there's always a 2 or 3 to join. Sometimes I can sense they don't want the company but once they realize that golf affords plenty of space even in the same group they chill and have fun.
-
I support the ruling and do not believe Lexi didn't know what she did, the girl doesn't look good to me right now, you can't move your ball over an inch, and she clearly did. If she had won, and this infraction was shown after the fact, the runner up would have been very upset, better this way and I think deep down Lexi knows it.

It's looking good, possibly very good this coming weekend here, as long as the melt continues I think it's on, the battle horn will be sounded across the Island.
-
She's nuts, Leadbetter all but said she doesn't listen to training, which is obvious, no friggin' way would any coach teach her to swing like that, is that a 48" shaft? looks like a fishing rod.
-
Which means even if it gets nice out next week there will still be a foot of snow on the ground, this mess may not clear away until June.
-
It's been an unusual winter for sure, I think I've played more rounds in Jan-Feb than I did in Nov-Dec! very strange, but its kept the blues away for sure. I just hope the weather gets back to freaky, it's really cold now and I want to be in mid-season form by May!

I think everyone should play by the Rules of Golf. And I agree the flagstick rule is one that won't make it, it's the only rule that I don't get.

9 Handicapper pulling EVERYTHING left. Could it be my grip?
MrDC replied to sharpljp's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
A lot of things can cause the clubface to be closed at impact, but I've had this issue in the past and it was caused by standing too close to the ball, it's easy to miss, try giving the ball a little space, it may work for you, it helped me. -
It's not certain that the issue he's having right now was caused by his violent swing or the SEAL training, I would think that's a big reason he is where is right now.

I started when I was 44, I didn't even play a full course in my first year, range only, and then only a executive course the following year, max HC I'm sure. I think for the most part beginning adults don't play well for quite some time, the older the harder it is, I play a ton of golf with adult strangers and rarely do I see a player that I think can break 90, so I think for most part adult newbies are max HC after one year. Young people have a huge advantage in this game, they can pick it up fairly quickly compared to adults, that's why you don't see many Pros that begin late, or any.

Obviously he's targeting the Masters, maybe play a tournament before, that's a big maybe. My guess is he shows up at Augusta, without much more than a practice swing or two before the event, jacked up on whatever local painkiller he's using to get through the day, and shoot a couple of 75's to WD, it's a sad display right now. Tiger Woods should be giving golf a rest for a while longer, I don't think he's done, but he needs an extended time off to heal correctly.

Depth of field, how deeply prepared all those great players are for the course, and how much pressure is on them to make the shots, all that makes the majors the most difficult tournaments to win, and hence the benchmark for the highest level of golf. The answer is yes, and any player who hasn't won at least one major is not in the same league as those who have. But that doesn't mean that a guy who won 5 is marginally better than the player who only won 2 by the majors alone, that's silly, it takes a much deeper look to make that call.
-
It's going to be nice here this weekend, not warm but nice enough to play, 50's. If only we didn't have 2 feet of snow on the ground, no way is all this crap melting by then, total bummer.
-
So you think he's so broken he can't get healthy again? his body will never be able to play golf? Because that's the only thing stopping him, I believe he's still talented enough to compete at the highest level, he's just too injured. I'm not sure I'm ready to believe that he can't heal, I think he simply rushed getting back into the game, maybe a year off wasn't enough, he may need another one to rest more, it was a serious injury.
-
What I don't get is why he's not battle tested before playing an event, is he just hitting a few balls in his private indoor facility and thinking he's good to go? I think so. It's not enough Tiger, how about playing 4 real rounds in a row and then do it again the following week, prove to yourself you can play this game and then commit to an event, the constant withdraw BS is very lame.

Seems silly to me but I have no doubt people get into it. Its all too Dave and Buster for my taste and this looks to be taking it to another level, more "chic", loose ties and fancy mixed drinks while hitting a few, no thanks.

Player Drops Club on Bag - Lack of Respect to Caddie?
MrDC replied to PabloMoorzio's topic in Tour Talk
This is one of those things that makes me dislike the teamwork attitude with pro golf more, it should be strictly a looper thing, not a team, the caddie should be there to carry the bag and give yardages, that's it, and if the player gets upset and flings his club at the bag he's not upset at the caddie or "belittling" him/her, or disrespecting him, he's pissed off at himself and wants to let it off a bit, any good caddie would understand that and be sympathetic towards the guy trying to earn them a paycheck.
