Visibility, however, was the driving force. According to Beck, the company did several tests that showed the yellow ball was easier to spot atvirtually every distance. "It was twice as easy to see at 210 yards and three times as easy to spot at 250 yards," he said.

I can see the white ones just fine, thank you.

Colored golf balls are kinda like bell bottom jeans, cat glasses, and disco.....things you definitely don't want to make a comeback.

I usually walk to within a few yards of the ball before I start searching, so visability from 250 yards out is not really a concern.

I even got a fancy pair of glasses that enhance the white color, making the balls easier to find. Got it for birthday, christmas or something. It works quite well actually. Others can play whatever they want, I will stick to white.

Other than courses that run too close to the driving range, this seems like a good idea. A more visible ball can't be a bad thing, apart from tradition.

I would probably try them. Nothing more frustrating than not being able to find a ball that you know is in-bounds

Those Ping Eyes are very collectible. Check'em out on ebay, the rare color combos bring a pretty penny.

Ah, the old PING golf balls.

They always reminded me of fishing bobbers.

Maybe Srixon should introduce camo-colored or green golf balls to further encourage hitting fairways off the tee...

I like the idea, especially in courses that have very well manicured lawns with multi level fringe and roughs....I've played Don Shula's Senator course and on the 18th hole (dog leg left) where the long hitters can easily go into the rough on the back side of the dog leg. I hit the rough...I could not find my $5 Pro V1, but found about 7 other balls. It took me a few minutes, but I found them. I've been considering getting a pair of blue glasses just to look for the ball. It drives me crazy to loose balls in the rough.

Hole #2 on my local course has it in for me....i always ALWAYS loose my balls right, AND I CAN NEVER FIND IT!!!!!

I think is not sucha great idea for all players, but certainly for the new players and high handicapers, and the idea that Srixson is doing it on a high end ball, would certainly be more inclined to buy these knowing that it would be easier to find my $5 ball.
It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

In the fall when the leaves are coming down, Id use them. I really don't loose many balls and I like the white ones just fine.

Brian

ive used colored golf balls before, ive bought mixed used golf balls off ebay and the white ones are easier to see, unless you're playing in the snow. Yellow ones look like dandelions in the rough, white simply contrasts better and is easier to see. Theyre great for kids but other than that, I dont really see much use for them.

    • On my calendar thx @Hardspoon for putting this together
    • After a bit of a lean spell managed to birdie stroke hole one, long par five. Ball striking best it’s been for a while short game exactly the opposite. Had so many opportunities to post good scores last three or four games, failed miserably😀
    • Would You Rather #69 For this question let's assume you are playing whatever tournament is important to you.  Would you rather finish second in your tournament but be remembered for a huge mistake you make right at the end.  or  Would you rather play solidly in your tournament, but you still finish outside the top 25, and are never really in contention.  Incidentally, this happed to a friend of mine many years ago at the tournament I play every year. He was leading the tournament coming into the last hole, where he took two to get out of a greenside bunker and then three-putted his way to second place. He hasn't really been in contention again since.
    • I hate that I agree with this. But the guy is like a Ferrari with four flat tires trying to go 200 mph. Bad things can only come from that. He turns 50 on December 30th. I wonder how long Golf Cart Tiger lasts out there.
