Just curious. I always go to the range and get a large, because it's only a 2 dollar difference..but after hitting 100+ balls, I feel like my arms are going to fall off. It seems like way too many balls to hit in one session, and I'm always kind of just hacking away towards the end so I can finish and leave. I definitely need to start just getting a small bucket. However many are in a large bucket usually. Depends on time really.

If my arms hurt or I feel fatigued I just work on short game. Grab a 9 iron or pitching wedge, pick a spot, and try easy, controlled swings. Who says you have to crush every shot? You don't on the course. :)

anywhere between 100-200 balls depending on the day.

I don't really feel tired but my back starts to get a bit stiff if i hit too many balls.

Also, does anyone else actually stretch before and after? I mean legit stretching. Not just swinging a club back and forth or twisting your spine around.

I have found it helps me tremendously. Just as with any athletic endeavor.

Bout 70-100 gets me warmed up, using probably 1/2 of those between my driver and 6 iron, rest are spread over clubs I feel the itch to hit or need to work with.

Always. I actually hurt my upper back muscle (traps) before, swinging clubs without stretching. Likewise, I also tore my tendon or watever on my right side of my rib for golfign without proper warmup.

I stretch for a good 10-15 minutes to get loosened up.

I stretch a little then warmup with 10 - 20 balls where I start out quarter swing working up to full based on how I feel. Usually average 80 - 120 balls per session.

I usually can hit around 100 balls with some concentration, beyond that I'm just going to be whacking them with no real thought and getting too tired to be doing anything useful. I will hit another 50 or so at times at the 50-70yd range as that really isn't too hard on the body.

Depends on when im hitting the range if its before a round i normally hit 30-50 balls but if its an actual range session where im working on things then its normally 100-130 depending on time of day. In fl its to hot to hit more than 80-90 during the middle of the day but if its night time i go for around 130.

The range I frequent the most has buckets of ~57 balls ; 6 tokens for $27. (or something like $5 / token separately). I get a batch of 6, but only use 3-4 per week. Typically, one per session. This is the course I frequent the most, and it also has $2 for 20 warm up balls, which I do before a round.

Another range I go to regularly has 11 tokens of 70 balls for $70. Unfortunately, it isn't as convenient on a day-to-day basis. Their mats tend to be better, and it's less crowded. It's just twice as far away. I rarely do more than 70 in a session, with the exception of the few days after a lesson, during which I need to work more to ingrain the motion. Also, most of my shots are 6-iron or a hybrid, and I'm almost always focusing on tempo when I'm not working on a particular motion. As much as I love it when I crush one, I tend to do it more often with this focus.
Also, does anyone else actually stretch before and after? I mean legit stretching. Not just swinging a club back and forth or twisting your spine around.

Stretching before, during, and after. And on just about any tee box - and any wait in the fairway - I'll do some stretching, especially the left foot forward, right foot back, hip stretch. I find if I go too long without that stretch, I start hitting abysmal shots.

lately... 200+ balls per session

trying to instill some muscle memory on certain shots (.......like the DRIVER!!!!!)
I could easily hit 300+ and not feel a thing
im getting pretty seasoned at hitting balls these days

I definitely do not like hitting 100+ golf balls so I try to split it with a buddy since I try to take my time in between hitting.

Usually stretch my neck, shoulders, back, and the legs. Warm up with some wedge shots then go with some full swings then finish with wedge shots again.

Don't just do full swings for the entire practice session. I see people hit 100+ golf balls in under an hour and complain about how much their backs hurt. Take your time and vary your practice. Golf isn't all about the full swing. I can hit a crap load of smooth punch shots without tiring for example.

85 balls which is a medium bucket at my local range. I hit driver last which usually tires me out a bit. If I were to hit irons only, I could probably hit 200 balls without getting too fatigued.

Interesting question. If you mean before a run as a warm up, I tend to hit about three or four balls with each of the following clubs ... wedge, 8 and 6 irons, 3 and 4 hybrids, 3 wood and driver. if I have time, I hit a few bunker shots as well. My goal is simply to warm up my muscles, not to perfect my swing.
If I am going out to work on a specific part of my game, I may hit forty or fifty (or more) shots with specific clubs.
I do stretch a bit each day and it does help.

I tend to spend half of my warm up time chipping and putting ... that's where I seem to got back most of my strokes.

I stretch before the session and usually hit 2-3 tokens (90-135 balls).

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
