Sometimes I get carried away with my complaining.  If I have one hundred yards or less to the hole I expect a very good shot.  If I mess it up I whine like a child.  After I'm done with my rant sometimes I make birdie anyway or par anyway.  I know this must drive my group nuts.  For this I'm sorry - still working on my mental game!!!

Anybody else want to contribute the annoying things that you do?

In the interest of speedy play I walk ahead a fair bit. Sometimes I get in the way of my own group when I lose track of who's playing the next shot!

I have been known to lose my temper a bit, too on the course. I bitch and moan with the best of them. I'm getting better at controlling it lately. Although you and I could be in different stratospheres - I will lose my cool when I'm frustrated at my swing. If I have a grip on my swing and what I'm trying to do I can accept the bad shots a lot better than when I'm clueless. Lately I've been building a proper swing for once, so maybe that's why I'm keeping cooler on the course.

Love the honesty...  I do A LOT!   I always pull a "Tiger" and drop the driver in the backswing after a bad tee shot.   People hate this.

I do the same, sometimes I will just spin it around behind me and through my fingers and not let go - but same idea

LOL glad I am not the only one

If I am playing badly, I drop the driver after a bad tee shot sometimes, get angry with my self and moan and talk to myself a lot and discuss what if this and what if that with my playing partner

I must drive him nuts, but I am miles better now than I used to be and really try to be calm and accept I am shite most of the time...

If I am playing well though I am OK

I tend to do this as well. Also I tend to "shut down" if I'm struggling. I figure it's better than complaining but I am trying to get more even keel socially when I am on the course.

Interesting topic.

There is a big difference between how I act when I am golfing by myself and how I act when I am golfing with someone.  By myself, I cuss up a storm whenever I have a bad shot or putt.  With someone else, I try to remain calm.  I'm very good at creating a facade to hide my inner thoughts and feelings.

The worst I have done is throw an iron down the fairway.

Hmm, i tend to loose my temper a bit, i will just be the silent brooding. If you have the ability to tell if someone is pissed off, you will know i am, i just emit anger.. I was in this mood once in college, my friend didn't want to enter the dorm room because he could tell from the hall way that i was not in a good mood. So if you get affected by other people's moods, like some people can become depressed by just being around depressed people, then better not play golf with me when its going bad.

I would say that I have three or more things that I'm trying hard to concentrate on during my setup - takes me a while to get it all straight in my mind, settle, and let it go.     I would have to say too long of a set up ...

I make fake cheerful comments after really horrifying stuff ups. They must be extremely unconvincing. But it's either that or jam the butt end of a club up my nose into my brain to end it all.

Hahaha, I act the exact same way! Except for the part about throwing a club, I would never hurt my darlings.

Sometimes I get wrapped up in playing ready golf and have been known to walk just a little to far ahead while others are playing up to the green.  When I realize that I am doing this, I make a conscious effort to stay out of their line of sight.

This is about the worst I do...if I see my ball heading for something bad and it was a bad swing..I will "cheerfully" tell my ball to land there or something like that.  Its not really a "negative" thing, though..its just a way for me to not end up getting negative about it.  It helps remember that its just a game and I'm not a pro.

When I'm by myself I just go all out cussing myself out, when I'm with people I tend to make snide remarks about myself, though I try to do it in a non-pissy way that doesn't make the person I'm playing with think I'm a spoiled, whiney brat. It is just golf, after all. :-) I'll say stuff like "Ooh, there it is" when the ball is shooting towards the woods, or "get in the hole!" when it's going towards a pond. Light-hearted stuff.

I think I usually just annoy whoever is riding with me in the golf cart because I tend to not brake much or let off the accelerator. I'm not damaging the course with the way I drive, but I do seem to hit every bump in the rough and every bump in the cart path at it's roaring top speed of 7mph! I never spill a drop of my beer though and that is what is important.

I don't see very well, and hit the ball...well you figure it out; (30 index).

I think I annoy other people because right up front, I make it a point to ask the people I play with to watch where the ball goes for me.

After hitting it and having no idea where it went, I ask if anyone knows where it went, and I find out no one was watching!!

I get kinda pissy when that happens, and sometimes feel like I blame the others for my lost ball distances and strokes.

Yesterday I surprised myself and tried the exact same shot three times. We were on the par 4, 16th tee of my home course, with water on the front right (90 degree dogleg right) that I try to clear with my driver to cut the corner. We're winding down the round. We've been having a blast and my score has soared after two disaster holes so I really don't give a rip about my score anymore. I step up and fire away. After what I (and my mates) think is a fine drive, we see the ball plunk into the water just short of the far side of the fairway. So, after the other fellows tee off safely, I try again. Same result. Once more, with feeling. Plunk, goes the third. We were all having fun, and no one is waiting behind us, so no great loss (except for three balls). But, in retrospect, my Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy impression really was stupid.

Happiness is a long walk with a putter.
