How do you keep score? Scorecard or smartphone? Or both? Or something else?

i still use the old scorecard due to the fact that i hate using my phone on the golf course. this is my getaway from the real world so taking calls (which are usually about the things im getting away from) are not on my agenda.

i need to bring my own pencil with eraser... my scorecards are always fudged up. lol

I like thes pencils because you can clip them right to the card, but they don't have erasers so they're out.

yea that would be handy. i never use the holder on the steering wheel because they either get stuck or fall out. never a happy medium with those things.

i like the old school paper and pencil.   i keep track of fairways hit, GIRs and number of putts.  i don't bother entering into an app, i just take the card, chill in the garage after the round, and reenact the round in my head.

there's something more romantic about having something tangible to hold than something you're reading off of a computer screen.

i get pretty shocked when people can't remember what they got on the hole they just finished.  i just count strokes over/under bogey, since i'm a bogey golfer.  it is really easy, i don't have to write anything down.

I'm one of those guys so I use a counter to keep track of my strokes. I play in a league so I need to be accurate. I then use the score card and pencil. My partner uses his phone to keep score, we all check the strokes at the end of the round and sign each others cards. The cards get turned in for our overall ranking. Would not be good if people think you are shaving strokes off your score.

Scorecard and pencil.  Even though my Garmin GPS had a scorekeeping and stat function, I still use the card I get in the pro shop.  And I do keep score, but not because my memory is failing - it's for accuracy.  I usually know how many strokes each player in my group took at the finish of each hole without having to ask, but I do ask out of courtesy.

Plus you can keep all your score cards and always go back and look at them and replay the rounds in your head.

Smartphone.  I use the Nike Golf 360 app.

I chose other because I use my golf GPS to keep my score, but otherwise I'd use scorecard and pencil.

Seems like the app is the way to go. Those tell you % of FIR and total putts and all that other good stuff that would be helpful to know?

The app tracks Fairways, GIR, putts, sand shots and penalty strokes. It emails me the scorecard and stats at the end of the round as well.
