Played a nice course in Stockton this weekend, about an hour from my house. Regular foursome, it was going to be a good day.

I check in and grab a club and head for the driving range to loosen up. I go to the nearest open stall and dump my bucket. Guy next to me says that he's saving the stall for his wife, ok I'm ok with that, but now I've got to pick up the balls I dumped, I muttered something like Jesus crist, ( Lord I apologize) and bend down and start picking up my balls and the guy tells me to go Fu%$k Myself.

I was not believing my ears, I ask him if he just told me to f myself. Without waiting for an answer I walked up to about 6 inches from him looked into his terrified eyes and said f you and walked away, I was so mad I was shaking as I walked away.

Took me awhile to calm down and then I went out  on a tough course and shot a 90, my best in a long time.

Thanks for allowing me to vent.

In my bag....

Bombtech Grenade driver. 10.5* Aldila DVS60 stiff, 45"

Ping i20 irons, ProjectX5.5. 5 thru PW.

Cheap crappy Wilson putter that works as well as anything for me.

It's a work in progress, I've only been playing for going on two years or so.

Uh… so perhaps what you muttered wasn't as under your breath as you thought?

If he was "saving" that stall, he should have at least put a club on the mat or a club somewhere in the stall, to show it been taken. I'm not a big fan of saving a stall, although I do it occasionally at my range when my Son is joining me at night. I'll put a bucket of balls, and usually my driver on the mat. The only reason I do that is because he has a 1 hr drive from his work. Plus the regulars know why I save it.

Some people tend to open their mouths before thinking about the consequences, sounds like he's one of them.

So does the OP.-Why would you get within 6 inches of a guy?-Seems childish and a good way to get decked. Just let it go.
Some people tend to open their mouths before thinking about the consequences, sounds like he's one of them. Exactly.   But in one instance, a guy picks up the club from the mat, sets it aside and started to use the stall.   WTF?  I told him I was saving the stall (and there were other open stalls) for my wife who was walking toward it.   He then says he is just going to hit few balls.   He must have seen my very annoyed face and walked away.

Well, around here, telling someone to F off, would have been decked in a heart beat vs getting up in his face.  As they say..thems fighten words..

Why does that matter? I am sure he heard it, it wasn't directed at him. It certainly didn't warrant telling me to fuc myself.

Shoes on the other foot, I would've apologized for telling him it was saved  after he dumped his balls on the ground.

You don't have to buy it.

Says the guy who behaved like a child and got within 6 inches of another guys face.
Why does that matter?
Dude you were the aggressive one first.-Could have easily just said 'sorry-you should put a club here to save a stall' but you had to be a jerk first, then turned it physical when you got in his face. I have a story guys.-I was driving along and some guy ahead of me forgot to put his turn signal on when he changed lanes.-So I honked at him really loudly for a long time even, he flipped me off, so I sped up and cut two feet right in front of him. WHat a jerk he was!

Yes, I agree but I am older and wiser now. You just can't go around beating people up when they piss you off. Not worth losing a day of golf, let alone an assault charge.

Not sure how it works on west coast but in NY if you get within 6" of another guys face you should expect an upper cut or a head butt to your face.

The guy could have handled it better as telling someone to "F" them self is antagonistic but you escalated it from words to physical by invading his personal space.  Glad you shot a good round and feel better for venting.

Childish? a good way to get decked? Ok, where's the childish comment about the jerk off who told me to go f myself?

You afraid to get Decked? That's what I was giving him his chance to do.

Where I come from, getting decked is preferable to letting some punk insult you. Win or lose is secondary.

You say it's a good way to get decked, but judging by your post I doubt you would deck somebody.

If he was on here being a jerk Id tell him the same thing.-Fact is you needlessly escalated a situation TWICE without need. Served in the military.-Not afraid of getting decked. Would have been the bigger man and said 'sorry' and gone on with my day though. This reminds me of a complete unrelated and equally uncomfortable topic......................while on a family vacation at WDW of all places!!!  I am with my wife and 2 small children.......

This was 10yrs ago so the exact memories are fuzzy....what I remember best is the extremely awkward moment!!!   It's lunchtime at WDW. it's peak summer,  and everybody is hot and bothered.  My family waits in A LONG line to order lunch at a counter-service restaurant inside the park.    When we finally proceed to the seating area, a full 1/3 of the seats are empty with a single person "saving a table" as their family waits in line to order.   I am thinking to myself...this is BS because we were here first....and we have our food!!!

I finally find an empty table for 4.........we take it, but it has 2 chairs.  The table next to us clearly has taken them, but it's being "SAVED" by a person as their family waits in line for food orders.    The lady saving the table said these chairs were being saved, but I took them anyway.     I as politely as I could muster.....told her we were obviously here first because we have our food and you don't, and you clearly took 2 chairs from this table and apologized for inconveniencing her....but I was taking those 2 chairs!!  This is at WDW of all places...LOL   I made eye contact with the hubby once he came back, but nothing else was ever said........

I was hot and bothered....and I wanted my family to be able to sit down and eat!!   This was the most awkward moment ever at WDW!! LOL...it's my fault!!

Here's my story. 40 years ago, back when I was bullet proof I was chipping on the practice green. I was using my game balls for that day. Another guy is on the same green. One of his buddies calls to him that it's time for them to tee off. Next thing I know he's picking up my game balls, and shoving them in his pockets. I yell at him that those balls he is picking up belong to me. He tells me so what, and keeps picking them up.  I then tell him where I come from that's called stealing. That's when he starts walking towards me in a violent manner with a club in his hand. Not knowing what his plans were I did not give him a chance, and planted a good one on his chin, which laid him out cold.

Seeing this happen,  5 of his buddies come running over. Yeah,  I'm scared about then. :surrender: I am having visions of my name on a ER chart with some broken bones, and maybe some expensive dental work needing to be done. Luckily for me one of the guy's buddies said he saw what happened, and if I was cool, so was he. He went on to tell me the guy on the ground had always been a hot head, that they were there to play in their tournament, and they would take care of him. He was up by then walking away with his friends. Turns out their tournament was a "Guns & Hoses" competition. (Cops vs Firemen) and the guy was cop. I never did get the balls back that he had in his pockets.

In My Bag:
A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

I agree with @Phil McGleno 100% on this one.

I also think this sounds like a likely case of revisionist history.

Without waiting for an answer I walked up to about 6 inches from him looked into his terrified eyes and said f you and walked away, I was so mad I was shaking as I walked away.
