PGA Tour players get injured all the time, is his point. It's a violent game (within your own body).

I get that but would you not agree that Bryson's swing effort is much closer to overpowering his frame, connective tissue, etc. more so than most in the realm? I've read he acknowledges it himself.

That’s also part of the reason he added  bulk. So he could absorb more forces.

How much longer can he withstand the taunts of all the normies who want the game to stay the same?

Well written article. I think he does focus too much on minutia that other variables vastly outweigh. The dimple is a perfect example. A blade of grass or a small indentation can have far more effect on a slow rolling ball. But his quest for distance and getting your body to perform better is admirable. He’s certainly has OCD though, which I think a lot of people have to some degree.

Interesting.
I've always said I think Bryson is good for the game. I would also agree that the "Golf Purists" feel like he's threatening their game. There once was a time when "Football purists" believed the forward pass would ruin their game. It was a very tough decision (at the time) whether or not the forward pass should be banned to preserve the integrity of the game.

I will say that although I defend him and his pursuit to play golf "a little differently". He's also thrown some tantrums, berated a camera guy for no reason, said some really stupid things about vaccination, and occasionally acted like a big baby. Those things I don't condone. Not to mention taking like, what was it, two and a half minutes to hit a putt?

I also don't think he's quite as much the victim as he's somewhat portrayed here. He brought some of that upon himself.

Lastly, way back pre-Covid I was at a tournament where Bryson took the time to sign a young man's Cobra F9 headcover. I was close enough to hear him talking to the kid, who was obviously a fan and probably a high-school golfer (maybe early college) and he couldn't have been nicer to the young man. .... So, there's that data point.

After battling injuries for most of 2022, Bryson DeChambeau is reportedly going under the knife.

He looked a bit awkward at The Masters. Makes sense.

I don't see how he has been 'taken down' for not being same. It's because he threw around an air of superiority a tad bit too much.

Folks roll their eyes for the science stuff because he made it sound more important than it is but that's not why people heckled him.

Now all this 'reduced to wearing a normal hat' sympathy seeking is just whatever. Comparison to a lonely connection seeking autistic kid is a bit silly. He seems to have plenty of friends and admirers. It's just that not everyone has jumped on to his bandwagon and the dude doesn't 'appreciate it'.

I hope his injuries heal and don't become a life long thing. Now that would be genuinely tragic because his quest for distance is the fun part.

This reply says 18 months to hit a ball off the ground!

That was 40 years ago, though…

Back when you stayed in the hospital for weeks after hip surgery. A close friend had outpatient hip replacement! They literally replaced his hip and sent him home. He was walking in a couple of days.

Yeah, don't think the bone in itself takes too long. The surgery these days is minimally invasive. I can't see that in itself would sit him out for a year plus.

I don’t see a lot of these so I texted one of my buddies who is a hand specialist. “If fragment is excised, 4-6 weeks. If large fragment is fixed, minimum 3 months. Unless it’s a large fragment, they are typically excised.”

I’d assume they’d take it slow so as to not screw it up and may take closer to 4-5 months before competing.

So they just cut it out, they don't re-affix it, eh?

Makes sense.

Yeah, common to just excise smaller fragments that remain painful in the hands/feet.

Obviously, we don’t know what exactly BD’s injury looks like, but I guess we’ll get an idea by the timeline they eventually disclose.
