I find comments among the twitterratti to be mixed.  Lot of fans who are sticking with him, certainly a higher percentage than golf commentary and tour players.  I’d say roughly 50/50.
If he’d kept his comments generic like “I know there are political implications” or “some people find them offensive” instead of what he said, I doubt sponsors would be so likely to drop him.

Callaway ‘paused’ their relationship with Phil? Lol! What a gutless move.

Some of my ex-girlfriends used that line!

When Phil pulls out some non-Callaway clubs and a Callaway rep. wonder what’s up.

Every time Phil has a little "pause" at the top of his swing it'll remind him of his better days with Callaway.  I fully expect other clubs to go into his bag.

You’re assuming he will be seen playing. If the super-duper league crashes and burns,  who will invite him to play?

Well, they may be accurate that the PGA Tour can't ban players.

But isn't the PGA Tour a member organization with parameters? Greg keeps up incessantly about them being independent contractors, but being a member of the Tour is kind of a privilege, Isn't it?

Uber drivers are independent contractors as well, but Uber still has the ability to establish standards and disassociate themselves from drivers who violate those standards.  So to your point, I'm not sure why the same would not apply to the PGATour.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I will take that statement at face value.  But how do you know that he's not?  Why are the rest of us not privy to that information?  I can understand that he wants to play clubs that he's comfortable with, but what if he eventually wants to make a statement against Callaway?  Honest questions.  Honest discourse.  I'm not being confrontational; just curious about stuff.

Because it’s a pause and he has a lifetime contract and has spent 25 years helping them design clubs specifically for him.

Unless the pause becomes permanent in which case his career is basically over then he’s going to keep playing Callaway clubs.

It will be interesting if Phil pops up on the senior circuit, or the main tour, to see if he's wearing any Callaway logos.  Though I do understand that for the moment he is on a self-enforced hiatus.

Got paired with a Bill Nickelson today.  He kept taking calls from someone with an Australian accent anywho was shouting at him.  Kept badgering me to bet on every shot and when I looked at his bag, all his clubs had the company name filed off.   At the end of the round he wanted to know if I would like to play a few rounds with him at different golf courses over the coming year.  Thought my game was impressive, although he muttered something like “this is what I have to work with”.

Then he asked if I knew what a bone saw was.  🤷‍♂️

    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
