GAME Golf Live still uploads via the phone. Were you uploading via computer?

Yes, I was on the oldest version "Classic" that only uploads through a computer.  I guess I can't complain too much, I have been using it since Spring 2015 so got 6 full season out of it.  I now need to decide if I stay with Game Golf and upgrade to "Pro" or go to another brand.  My concern with the "Live" version is if they stopped supporting Classic now, how long until "Live" is dropped?  I am concerned about "Pro" since I've seen many negative reviews.

I wasn't sure if I had the classic or live versions, but I just checked. Looks like I have live, so I should be all set to keep using it.

I have a GAME Golf Live and I was uploading via computer since I got it.  I think I tried a phone connection once about four or so years ago.  Should I be using the phone connection, and does it have to be during the round or is after okay?  I'd really rather not leave something connected to bluetooth for four hours if I can help it (although I do it with headphones when I go hiking).

Uploading three rounds from my phone isn’t working right now anyway.

i got an email back from Game Golf today.  Unfortunately for me they are no longer supporting "Game Golf Classic".

Well that’s it for me then. I don’t have enough faith in them to want to upgrade.

I am also unable to upload from my phone right now using my Live unit (rounds played over the last two days).

I have to agree.  Now I have to figure out what option to replace with.  There seems to be many options.  Is there a thread that compares the different ones?

There are a couple, but not really any comprehensive comparison. Most people just buy one and stick with it.

I’m leaning towards ShotScope, but I can just as easily go rogue for the year and save $200. At this point I’m not going to learn anything about my game I don’t already know.

When GG stops working, that's the way I'm going to go. None of the other systems really handle tagging the way I like. Especially ShotScope. And I don't like that most of the tags have batteries.

(Arccos, mostly.)

Yea I don’t mind the watch as much as you (my Apple Watch with Rhino Band is bigger than the V3), but I really like the tagging of GG. I doubt the ShotScope tags are going to be any better than GG in terms of popping out of my PURE grips, either, which is my other issue.

Arccos is a non-starter for me.

Is the issue with Arccos just the size of the tags?

For me, that’s one of them. The tags also have batteries than can die and I don’t have confidence in automatic shot detection. There’s also the subscription fee to consider.

I have the Live version.   I always wear my Garmin watch.  I like the tagging of GG Live.   I won't change watches for ShotScope and I don't want anything to do with a battery like Arccos.

GG's customer support and issues have persuaded me to discontinue shot data when my Live dies.  I like their strokes gained data but I know my areas of improvement.

It's a shame, they have/had a good product.

GG should have been a subscription to their data/stats from the start.

I've used Shotscope for 3 seaons now. It is okay, but a lot of room for improvement.

The V3 Shotscope watch isn't as bad as the V2 in terms of bulkiness, if you don't mind wearing a watch in the first place.

The watch automatically tags the club when you take a practice swing, but not always, so you have to take a practice swing/rehearsal, and then look at the watch to confirm the club is tagged. Sometimes the watch misses strokes, especially short game shots, and for me, especially in a bunker, where I might take more than 1 shot to get out. Sometimes the watch randomly records a shot that didn't happen. I assume it happens when I am doing something like carrying a club and it bumps on the ground or something. So you have to be aware of this and add/subtract during post-round edits.

The Shotscope pin-collect feature for ending a hole on the green and tracking putt distance is a neat idea, but it rarely gets the hole in the right spot in the green.

From what I can tell from photos, etc., the the user interface for viewing statistics is much better for GG and Arccos compared to Shotscope. Shotscope has made some improvements, but it still feels clunky to me, and I find it hard to get what I want out of the information. I prefer a dumbed-down analysis that just shows strokes gained, which Shotscope has now, but only strokes gained vs. a tour player. I would like to see strokes gained vs. various handicap levels.

For mapping rounds, I really liked Garmin's course maps, which were not google map satellite images, but some sort of proprietary rendering that IMO made viewing the round cleaner. But the Garmin CT10 tags are $300 plus you have to have a Garmin watch for another $100 at least.

GameGolf is (was?) ideal for me because it was unobtrusive and I liked the app as an on-course GPS. I will probably just stop using tracking if/when GG stops supporting the Live unit.

It’s only a matter of time before they go completely under. I’m considering selling mine while there’s still a shred of value to it.

Are there alternatives or is the watch required?  I love wearing a watch in everyday life but I hate doing it when swinging a golf club.  I own a GPS watch, but I keep it on my cart (I have it primarily because my neighbor sold it to me for very little money when he upgraded).
