I really think this weekend's Match broke the ice for other sporting events to start taking place without fans.

Great to see The Memorial trying to move forward with fans by mid-July.

Once the momentum starts to move towards restarting it'll happen quickly.

The LPGA is going to allow the option of a player playing without a caddie:

Players will be allowed to carry their own bags for the rest of the 2020 season, if they so choose.

With LPGA caddies optional for the rest of the year, how many players will actually choose to carry their own bags? One caddie believes the option will be abused.

I hadn’t quite thought about it, but it never occurred to me that a caddie was “required,” that playing without a caddie would require permission or exemption from the LPGA.  If so, I’m assuming that the PGA Tour has a similar requirement.

Right!! Odd. And family members are not allowed, but representatives from manufacturers (i.e. sponsors) will be allowed?

To be honest, I really don't like the idea of holding events without fans. Think how anti-climactic it would be to win your first PGA Tour even in front of ... no one? Can't even run over and hug your wife and kids?

Also, if there are no fans, why travel to all of these different events? Does the venue matter that much if there are no fans. Why go to Detroit in July to play a boring low interest course? Why not just hold all of the events in Florida to minimize travel?

I hate to be pessimistic, but I see a good chance of this never happening. One person will test positive somewhere along the line and they will shut it all down again.

Hmmmm! Playing a boring, low interest course near Detroit! Could you possible be thinking of Oakland Hills? The course where Hogan won the US Open and said he "slayed the beast?!"! I certainly hope not!

Would never call you a cheater, I will say you cannot guarantee that if raked there would not be a footprint your ball landed in.

I have seen a player rack a bunker and than walk out not fixing their foot prints on the way out.

If so, that player was extremely ignorant, and should be beaten within an inch of his life!

That is a moronic comment.

    • As a geezer who remembers seeing the original Star Wars in theaters - this sim is pretty kewl.  Fantastic detail!
    • Day 203 (21 Nov 24) - Weekly nine hole round with my good friend.  Played it as a 7 club challenge (7w, 5h, 7i, 9i, GW, LW, putter).  As we were playing up a set of tees, no super loss of distance off the tee.  Had some good looks at birdie, failed to convert.  These sessions with fewer clubs really helps with course management.
    • Tell me about it - shouldn’t have second guessed…
    • My wife is going to drag me to see Wicked.   She is very excited to see it.   We saw the musical while in Chicago and thought it was very good.  I'm not usually a fan of musicals but I'm looking forward to seeing this.   Gladiator 2 does look good.   I'm going to go back and watch the original Gladiator before going to the theater.
    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
