Any chance of walking the course on Sunday? Or is it not that kind of course?

As others have said, B.

If not, should I bring my ClicGear 3.5+ anyway for Saturday. Currently I'm moved into a ginormous Sun Mountain C130 and I don't want to have to lug it around. Or would it be smarter just to chuck my stuff into a stand bag for the weekend?

You can bring it for CHQ. You won't need it on Sunday.

Can you update us Ohio folks on the mask rules out there in PA? I will be bringing 1 or 2 but I do want to make sure I'm complying with what ever rules the locals have.

Like Marshall said, they'll change twice by this weekend.

Basically, any time you're inside, wear a mask. Drive-throughs, gas stations, etc, wear masks.

Outside, even when you're in close proximity to others for a few seconds at a time, no mask needed.

That's probably about what they'll be next weekend.

Can you add my wife to the dinner tally? Also, what tees will we be playing on Sunday?

Okay, if she wants to tolerate us talking about golf and other members and so on… she's welcome to join.

The tees? I'm not sure. Blue or white. Might let you guys pick, which will have some players on blue and some on white. Or maybe given the course I'll make a composite set of tees.

Right now — and none of this is final — this is what I have for handicaps, etc.

image.png

Handicaps will be updated a day or two ahead, maybe even Saturday night.

80% is just for the quota game, and I might adjust it to another percentage. The quota game is that you get these points for your scores (all gross, currently figured for blue tees):

  • Bogey: 1 point
  • Par: 2 points
  • Birdie: 4 points
  • Eagle: 8 points
  • Albatross: 12 points

So if a guy with a quota of 27 points earns 30, he's "+3 points" and would beat someone who has a quota of 17 who gets 16 points (-1 points).

I was quite curious about this. I play a quota game on the weekends (1 bogey, 2 par, 3 birdie, 5 eagle), and they make young guys play from the back tees (only 6100 yards, and I made 17 points today which was over my quota). As someone that only drives it 200ish, I feel like I may be in for a beating from long tees. I can play up to 6400 and still score kind of normal, but any more than that and I won't be in the hunt. I don't mind donating, and maybe the lesson/practice day will help😉.

The blues at WW are only 6475 FWIW.

The length isn’t what makes WW hard 😃

Saw you cashed the other day. Good job.

You sure you aren't underselling yourself just a bit at 200ish. ... Guess we haven't played together in a while, but you looked more like 220-230 most of the time.

Either way, 6475 really isn't any worse that the old Hawk course was.

For you maybe 😉

It’s not hard. It’s not easy, though. Can’t really get away with bad shots.

Don't sweat it my friend. I've only played one round of golf in 2020. It was April 17th. (I know because it was my birthday). I actually did a course VLOG for the front 9 at Bent Tree.

From then until just this last week or so, my clubs have been sitting lonely on the corner of my closet.

So, if anyone will be donating, I'm sure it will be me.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Thanks. I've lost yardage in the last month... frowny face. I'm putting more cut and spin on the ball than every before and it's robbing me of distance big time. I kind of corrected it at the end of the round today, but I'm a shadow of my self from last year in terms of driving.

I’m not playing at a 5. I’d feel a lot more comfortable at, say, a 15.

Thanks.

This is pretty accurate. Whispering probably is the leader in courses I’ve played where, when calculating my score, I think “how the hell did I put up such a high number?”

It is not hard; yet, you can put up big numbers in a hurry if you are playing sloppy.

FWIW, I'd prefer to play the whites, but would go along with whatever is decided.

Sounds like I may set a course record...in the wrong direction. Honestly can't wait though. Have never got the chance to play a tough, well rated course.

I know. Bad attitude. I'm just joking though. I'm excited to play a nice course with new people and make new friends. If I score well, I'll be over the moon. If I don't, I will enjoy the time anyway and learn along the way.

I’m leaning toward mixed tees.

1, 6, 8 on the front white. On the back 10, 15, 16, 18.

6475 is a bit deceptive, because there are 3 short par fours (300, 288, and 282), which are counteracted by 4 long ones (451, 426, 423, and a seriously uphill 411). For that reason, I concur with your mixed tee idea.

Nah, plenty of getable holes.

Agreed. Looking forward to it, all.
